This is pointless. It's the nature of fight fans that as soon as a guy loses, or loses again, he isn't good as he was before. Mosley will no doubt be thought of as less of a credible threat. This should have a name like the Jeff Lacy theory.
it's as simple as if someone is gonna say a fighter is old if they lose then don't pick that fighter to win.
Don't say "Mosley is gonna beat Floyd" and then if he loses say "Mosley is old" as if, if he was young then you would have been right in your prediction.
I'm picking Mayweather to win this in a more one sided fashion then others may pick for him. And I'm not gonna make any excuse if Mayweather loses.
So none should make an excuse for Mosley if he loses. Because if he is "old" then why pick him?
So if you think Mosley has enough to beat Floyd stick with that, don't just abandon it if Floyd puts a beating on Mosley.

Does it count if Mayweather just MAKES him LOOK old?
Or if you start saying he's old right now, would that be okay??
I think he's old right now. Too old for Mayweather.. And Mayweather is most likely going to make him look much older than he would look against anyone else..
And besides, we aren't all psychics... In hindsight we can all have better judgements... Right now people can focus on a lot of what Mosley has to offer.. And in reality that is quite a bit... And how the f'ck do we know if he's going to look like a million bucks in there, or old and sh!t like he doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Mayweather?? Of course people can say right now that Mosley has a good shot and even with his age, one could expect him to do well... But then after the fight realise that, you know what, he was to old! He didn't have the snap in his punches or the spring in his step or the reflexes he once had... I want to beleive he'll have all that.. And I think it's great for someone to pin their hopes on that and overlook his age in support of him... But after the fight, we'll all see for sure how old he is or looks....
I think the main point is, that no one is taking something away from Floyd by saying Mosley is old after the fight.. Yes they say he's a threat now.. Yes they'll say he was just too old after the fight... That doesn't take away from the fact he was a threat to begin with and that Floyd had a challenge on his hands.. It just proves that you have to be 100% to beat Floyd, and in Hindsight, Mosley wasn't.....

I think Majesty has a point. If someone is picking Mosley to win don't use some excuse later like say Mosley was old as an excuse if he loses.
Not going to mention names, but when Pacquiao beat Cotto, the same people that predicted Cotto would ko Pac later said Pacquiao beat a shot fighter, that was an excuse to discredit that win, they didn't say he was a shot fighter before the fight, but after the fight that was the excused used.
If you're making a prediction on the guy stick to it don't use some sorry excuse later on if the fighter you're backing loses.
I have to say I agree.

Exactly, I picked Cotto to beat Pacman & when Pacquiao dominated him I was amazed!!! All credit to Pacquiao in that fight, now though going into the Foreman fight I feel Cotto is on the slide.
In this fight though I think Mosley although not at his peak is still at an elite level & a huge risk for Mayweather...

I get where you are saying it's wrong..
Like if you said Cotto is going to beat Pac, and the afterwards say Cotto was shot,,, to discredit the win, then that's crap....
But for someone to genuinely think something, like how Galaxy thought Cotto would really trouble Pac, but then after the fight be able to say "you know what, Cotto was a shot fighter", I don't think there is a single thing wrong with that at all.. Unless it's to discredit the win, by saying that Cotto was no challenge and Pac shouldn't be proud of it.... In that case, you are being a douche and flipping your opinion to take something away from someone..
But otherwise, you are just using hindsight to rectify a perception you had before a fight, vs after it.

Actually Dizaster is very accurate. Hindsight tells us a lot but mostly with fights people use it as an excuse for why things didn't go as planned. But in order to see if a fighter is shot or aged you have to see it in a fight. How else can you really tell? I personally don't hang out with these guys so I don't know what they are looking like in sparring or training. But when Mayweather is on he actually makes everybody look old or overmatched so naturally it will be said Mosley was too old. Just like people said Marquez wasn't effective at 147. Marquez fought one welterweight and it was against the absolute toughest guy to look good against. But somehow we get the conclusion that Marquez couldn't carry the weight. The same goes with Pacquiao/Cotto though Cotto's situation is a little different. The writing was on the wall even Roach said it after the Clottey fight. But if Cotto was damaged goods Pacquiao is the guy who will show it because he is about the most explosive and relentless guy in boxing. So if you can no longer take damaging blows it will surely tell in a Pacquiao fight. And if you are too old it will surely tell in a Mayweather fight. Not to take anything away from either Pac or Mayweather but you can not be damaged or slipping to deal with them.

He wins this he deserves credit for the win I mean this is Shane Mosley...Even a past it Mosley is better then most guys could ever hope to be....
Mosley is certainly a tougher opp...Or I think a better way to phrase it would be....
Mosley is a more high risk opp then
Marquez
Hatton
Baldomir
Judah
Mitchell
Gatti
Bruseles
Corley
N'dou.....
His last 9 opp leaving out DLH
Of those guys listed none were prime when Mayweather best them and in the divisions there were tougher fights for sure at the time..
Mosleys last 5 were
Margarito
Mayorga
Cotto
Collazo
Vargas...
He lost to Cotto Vargas was past it and Mayorga is well...Mayorga not expected to win against guys like Mosley but still tough...
So not as if Mosley has been fighting second raters and looking good because of that fact...
There is nothing that Mosley has done to make anyone be able to say he was old etc if he loses...

I'm gonna say that I want Shane to win, no doubt... I want him to Nonito Donaire Mayweathers ass and just catch him with a clean ass punch that knocks the taste out of his mouth... But Mosley will look old against Mayweather. I can see it now. Mayweather is not going to give him the extra second to connect like he did against Margarito. Margarito made Mosley look like the fastest guy on the planet. Mosley is quick but he will be countered effectivley all night. I hate Mayweather but I'll call it like I see it. I think Mosley has been on the solid decline fore sometime and, in fact, his speech is being effected. As quick as Mosley looks, Mayweather will be much faster. I hate Mayweather and love Mosley but people are getting their hopes up for yet another one sided fight. I want nothing better than to see Floyd go down in flames... If this fight happened 5 or 6 years ago... Maybe. But not now.

39 is definitely old for a fighter. That of course doesn't mean they can't turn in great performances, but it definitely is an age where you're going to be past your best.
but Al, did say, that he's choosing an old, past his best, Mosley to win the fight, which is fine. But that is stating, clearly, that he's acknowledging the age gap, and looking past it.. therefore if he says 'mayweather beat an old declining mosley, big deal!' after the fight, then it's a near non-credible opinion.
it's not like there is some unforeseen handicap that mosley will all of a sudden develop on fight night.. like the flu, or an injury.. it's already determined that he's the older fighter, and that he is past his prime, and that Al or anyone else who chooses him to win understands this and can't make excuses.
easy enough.
Array
Here's how I look at it, Mosley's age is determine by the result of the fight. If he wins he still has it, if he loses he's old.
That way I can't be wrong.![]()
