I like Glen McCrory but he said de la hoya would beat mayweather and pacquiao. He got both wrong. Out of the sky boxing team, johnny nelson always predicts it well when i watch. He always backs mayweather aswell.

Johnny Nelson is picking Mosley against Mayweather. He says Shane has the speed and experience and power. He has always got it right in Floyd fights previously

Really the only thing that bothers me RE: a Mosley win is whether he can match Mayweather for footspeed, everything else is pretty nip and tuck -

Hand Speed, I reckon they're about the same and Mosley does more than just put shot, he can fire out quick sharp combos...

Punching Power, no question here Mosley stands out much further than Mayweather in this department. Unless its late in the fight and Shane is exhausted (never really seen it happen) I can't see all but Mayweathers hardest most perfectly landed shots bothering shane that much if at all.

Strength, again although I think a lot of people probably under estimate mayweather's power and strength I think that Shane is one strong dude... much more so than Floyd.

adapatbility... both men can do it all when needed and both can work a gameplan.

defence, floyd wins this but not but as much as a lot think in my opinion. Mayweather's defense is foresight and planning rather than just reflexes but he can be hit when out of his comfort zone, (even hatton was catching him cleanly until mayweather realised Hatton is actually pretty quick on his feet and cna move into range quickly)

stamina, both have great stamina, with mosely we've seen him fight hard for 12 rounds, with floyd we've seen him not tire over 12 rounds but this i largely due the fact he can win rounds with very little exhertion. his gym and pad work is legendary but often looks very tippy tappy (get a guy to jog for 45 minutes and get a guy who can sprint on and off for 30 and the latter is fitter) so if shane can make him actually fight for 12 rounds we'll see just how great his stamina is?

Floyd being younger and less shop warn than shane should be able to dig deeper and be frsher for longer, but this is also a mental game and one we've not seen floyd play.

I really can't see Floyd doing very well by staying in the pocket/on the ropes against shane and shoulder rolling, Shane doesn't play that shit and I don't see Floyd standing up to what shane would bring if he did.

I reckon Mayweather will try and jump in with pots shots, work angles and be in and out using his movement and ring generalship, especially at 38 I think floyd's feet are quite a bit faster than shanes....

that said I think that given that Shane has longer arms (De La Hoya didn't, despite being almost 2 inches taller and he had a lot of sucess with his jab... when he bothered to use it V floyd) he may have some success walking Mayweather down with the jab and timing him coming in with potshots and firing a stiff jab out there.

I think if Mosely can get the right timing down whilst applying some pressure to either prevent floyd from potshotting/draw him into shane's type of fight then he has a pretty good shout.

lol was thinkin the exact same thing . Floyd should beat sHane handily IMO if he's as good as he says he is, Shane is what he is at this stage of his career - a sturdy chin and mentality and a decent dig, don't think any welter great in history would struggle to outpoint this version of shane and Floyd should do the same if he thinks he belongs. Don't think Shane has regained anything as people are tryin ro claim from the Tony performance, he only has power in his hayemekers which he shouldn't land on Floyd.

Floyd will pick him off efficiently and gradually. I hope Mosley pulls it off, would catapult him into a fight with Pac no doubt. But I think the angles from Floyd will be too much and although he isn't that powerful, he is quick and accurate and thats enough to stick you on your ass.

about Glen, he does see fights completley different than most, but you can fault his passion for the sport. Always goes all out with his thoughts.

Mosely does have less foot speed but as you mention when DLH fought Mayweather DLH had already slowed but was able to jab and tag Mayweather.

I'm just hoping for a good fight.

McCrory makes some very good points, but I don't think Mosley is massive compared to Floyd. Floyd was a fully fledged WW last time out against Marquez and has obviously filled up somewhat during his prolonged absence from the ring. They will be similar in weight come fight night. Mosley does have more experience fighting big WW's and JMW's though.

I think Mosley will be the hardest hitter Floyd has been in with and that might prove telling if Mosley is able to get through clean often enough.

Met Glenn mcCrory once and had a drink and a yarn with him. Absolute top bloke and a real nice guy but he cant pick his nose. It was around 1998/99 and i asked him his thoughts on Tyson and lewis, remembering that he had sparred tyson but forgetting that lewis had done him up. He told me that he had no doubt at all that tyson would KO lewis very early. I told him that i strongly disagreed and went on to list Lewis's strengths, when it dawned on me that Glenn had fought Lewis. I only realised it in mid-sentence and kinda tailed off my argument, but he was a real nice guy altogether

Firstly, Ricky Hatton did help mayweather, but to say that he wasn't going to be an ATG, or a big draw eventually after being undefeated and beating big names, is not fair. I mean, he doesn't have the constant crowd pleasing brawling entertaining style, but if you don't appreciate his skills and if you don't want to watch a fighter with his talent, then you're not a fan of boxing anyway..

secondly, and this should be it's own topic, but talking aobut shane being as fast as floyd..

Maybe, it's just me, but i think we will see a significant difference in speed in the ring.. Round 1, it will be apparent.. Floyd is faster than shane.. they may have similar handspeed, but Floyd's agility and in and out movement, along with his defensive evasion techniques are FAR superior..

Does everyone forget, because Floyd only fights once a year, how he does what he does?

He doesn't fight on the inside, unless he knows that he can match power with his opponent.. He obviously can't with Shane, so he's going to stay out of range most of the fight, or on the fringe of Shane's range so that he can get in and out quickly and score points. Shane will have to catch him on the way in, or corner him and throw combo's, but don't think that just because Shane has handspeed that he'll be able to connect often with Mayweather. IMO, Mayweathers agility and general speed in the ring, is superior than just Shane's handspeed.

Now, I don't think that Floyd has a chance of KO'ing Shane, and of course Shane has fought much harder punchers, but the reason why Floyd has any power is because of his accuracy and his mechanics.. he puts ALL of his weight behind that left hook, and when he catches you flush, it's going to buzz you.. When he leaps forward with his straight right, he again, puts all of his weight into it.. All of his signature punches are just executed so well, that even if he doesn't have the power in his fists, he's still using torque and mechanics to inflict pain, which, i think will be enough to not allow Shane to just steam forward and try to pressure floyd. Or, at least make him think twice about it.
