Bayless did a great job. If people feel like he interfered too much, they also have to realize his hand was forced early. The incident when when mosely slipped on the inside and was prone and mayweather thought about hitting him till he saw his glove was touching the mat... and the point when mosely bulldozed mayweather back into the ropes.

If a ref thinks its gonna be that kind of fight early, its better to break them before something happens (like when Cotto threw clottey down) and one of the fighters is unable to continue or decides to retaliate. It was the biggest fight that could be made. As a ref you can't let it turn into a some kind of controversial incident because theres too much riding on it.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

    That's true.

Clearly it was just me and the people with me watching, just towards the end when we just wanted to see it open up, it seemed he was in there slightly too sharp.

To be straight, I'm not saying he is a bad ref or he did a bad job, I've always thought of him as excellent, just me being picky I think there were a few he could have let ride out, that's all.

But I do agree, both fighters looked like they had some dirt in them that night, so maybe he was delibratley playing it safe.
