Being that Martinez destroyed Pavlik at 160 when Cotto hasn't even had his first fight at 154 yet, I would have to hold off on a real opinion. At this moment, I see Martinez stopping Cotto. But we'll see how he looks on Saturday.

Cotto I think was ruined by marg, whether plaster or not was involved that was just an insanely grueling fight for the last couple rounds especially, factor that in with the other fights he's had, not like he's a defense first fighter. He's a very old 30 I think...martinez cuts him up and probably stops him around the 10th...
I agree with you I think Margarito ruined an already nearing high mileage Cotto. Remember his dad said he couldn't explain to Miguel the brutality he suffered. He said he was bleeding out of the mouth, bleeding out of the nose, bleeding out of the ear, and bleeding out of th eyes. I'd hate to see it but I'm with you I think Martinez would put the finishing touches on the career of Cotto. I don't want to see that matchup.

I think Martinez would stop Miguel too, and it pains me to say that considering he is my favourite boxer. I think it would be a great fight to watch but Martinez would prove to be too much/too quick in the later rounds. Probably a stoppage around the 10th.
Saying that, I see Cotto definitely beating Foreman.

Martinez wants this fight because Cotto is an A-side fighter who is easily beatable by Martinez. It's actually a perfect fight for Martinez from that respect. Martinez stops him with a punch Cotto doesn't see coming.
I agree, but I will say that Paulie Malignaggi was interviewed about this matchup and he said he liked Foreman. Now granted Foreman and Malignaggi are from NY and know eachother, but still.

agreed
hasnt looked the same fighter ever since that 7th round when for the 1st time in his career he was hurt badly and never recovered
Had you of asked me who wins a cotto-foreman fight 2years ago i would of had it a complete miguel shut out. But cotts prime for the taking and if you hurt him early you will take him off his gameplan

Martinez's style is all wrong for Cotto...
I'd favor Martinez via decision.
If Cotto beats Yuri I would like to see Cotto fight the winner of Vanes Martirosyan vs. Joe Greene.

If Cotto can beat Foreman and look good doing so, regain some of the speed he had in earlier fights at a higher weight, then I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Martinez. I think Martinez is a talented but flawed fighter in himself, I wouldn't completely rule Cotto out. It all depends to see how Cotto looks I hope he looks the top 10 P4P fighter of a couple years ago but that might be asking to much.

Have you seen Martinez fight?
He's got great handspeed, it's probably the best above 147, apart from Dirrell and maybe Ward. I love how consistently off the mark you are Hammer
Anyway IF Cotto beat Foreman, which I don't think he will, Martinez would be a nightmare for him. I think Miguel is close to done and would get stopped in 6 or 7. He might go a little longer if Martinez goes through his usual lull in the middle rounds, but that's the best I can see for him.
