Former Aussie World Bantamweight Champion Lionel Rose was a soft puncher, but brilliant boxer. He went in with Fighting Harada, Jose Medal and Chucho Castillo before falling victim to Ruben Olivares in August 1969. Rose had a lightning left jab and was a great counter puncher, he just lacked pop.

Thats heresay about winning the round without throwing a punch. At best, opinion is divided. But your 100% right in calling Pep. What a boxer!

I disagree with this....I think Joe hit harder than most people think.

He had roy jones face a mess, Hopkins turned to acting and running like a girl, and Joe hurt Mikkel with a body shot. Joe would brawl and come right at you, he was no defensive master like most light punchers, and if he couldnt punch people would have walked through and KO'd his ass.

when talking of feather fisted fighters I always think of Whittaker given how successful he was (did he ever make p4p no. 1 ??)

I would include the last 3 years or so of Calzaghe's career in this category too

I was reading he was one of those fighter that landed in Jail and now I read he's on the comeback trail. Except unlike Holt he won his last fight.

i wouldn't really say Griffith was a soft puncher his lack of Ko's later on in his career had more to do with the death of Paret, he seriously became gun shy and pretty much lost his killer instinct, i'm not saying he was a devastating puncher but he had pop in his punches

Earnie Shavers was not a soft puncher. He was a murderous Puncher with a stamina problem until he found skill and endurance at the end of his boxing career. I agree with most of the choices with Wilie Pepp being the top choice along with Pernell Whittaker.

Currently Cesar Rene Cuenca (light welter from Argentina) fits the bill. 37-0-0, all of 1 KO. I have seen him fight, a very awkward fighter. Low level of opposition (hardest was a disputed decision to Alex de Jesus), so his KO number is even more amazing.

I know, he is not still world-class, but I am sure he will contend for a world title down the road.
