No. It has changed too much---and not for the better. The boxers are not as accessible and many of the non-boxers "celebs" act like real a-holes--as if anyone cared they were there. When a boxing writer can walk around with his nose in the air, it's time for me to stay away. But I used to love going there with a group of guys, cigars, and cameras.

Still, have a Basilio Sausage sandwich on me, a drink at Graziano's, some luck at Turning Stone, and have a great time. Hook up with the IBRO crowd if you can. They are good guys. Also, the memorabilia stuff at the HS used to be a good way of getting close to the boxers.

I always like the cocktail party but the dinner is a waste of money IMO. I also like the boxing, but they stopped that as well.

Yeah I know it has change a bit but I am going to cover it for the site...As far as the Cocktail parties and even the formal party I would not pay money to be snubbed....I can get that at the in-laws for free

    How was it?

I hear Hagler was not there and that the attendance was down from prior years. If Tyson goes in next year along with Chavez, that should help attendance big time. But if Tyson fights Holyfield () he will get pushed back 5 years,

It was OK...I think the weather may have hurt attendance...It was hot as hell plus humid as a freaking jungle....I will admit it is not the event it used to be but all in all not bad...

Boxers, Promoters etc not as accessable for fans as they used to be but the guys who have always been the staple of the event like Basilio is getting too old for too much running around...LaMaotta not around...One day it will fade out almost all together...In the meantime just gotta enjoy it for what it is...In truth if I was not going to meet up with some people and cover it for the site I more then likely would not have attended

Sad to hear that it has changed so much; I had some memorable times going back there in the 90's.

I would have loved to have seen and talked to Nino Benvenuti; he never seemed to show years ago.

Yeah I loved it in the 90's as well...Can't remember if it was 94 or 97 that was the best year I ever had there but it certainly was a good time then be it doing coverage or just as a fan

It gets wicked hot there in June. We used tio stay at the Turning Stone, but then started staying in Utica which was a lot cheaper. I think I wrote an article about it back in the day. The year Saad and Duva went in was a great one.
