Is America the leading terror state in the world today?

No, of course everybody reads, but most are ignorant of the politics and issues. Anyone who has read about US interventions free of media tarnish, would agree with me. I have spent two years studying my MA and with my increased free time have been let off the leash when it comes to personal reading. I'm having quite a bit of fun actually!

So anyone who doesn't agree with you (or the people you parrot) is ignorant? What a ridiculously arrogant thing to say. Doing some independent reading doesn't make you an expert on anything and there plenty of people much more informed and educated than yourself who would strongly disagree with the things you are saying in this thread and they would be justified in doing so. I'm a left-wing borderline socialist who is highly critical of the United States, but there is no such thing as any objective truth in these kinds of matters. I've spent the last four years in University studying American history as one half of my double major, with a focus on the United States in the 20th century, and I can assure you that many credible people would disagree with you in a credible way.

America has done some awful things, literally every nation in the world has over the last 100 years, but it's only the depth of their power and their reach which makes them seem so egregious to you. As the only global superpower, they're very easy to take shots at and much of it is deserved, but to call them the "leading terror state in the world today", whatever that means, if absurd. There are dozen's of nations which, if they had the power of the U.S., would be exponentially worse. In fact, if it wasn't for their troops guarding the country you live in, you could very well be living in a war-zone.

I am a political history graduate myself. I would imagine that I have a fair bit of formal education, but independant reading is where most of my knowledge has come from. Okay you've followed your reading list and written a couple of papers, it doesn't make you an expert either. Anyone can be an expert in something as trivial as global affairs.

So I should be thankful to America for protecting me. Okay, and the Koreans should be grateful that their country was torn to the ground, that their human rights were decimated and that they suffered a dictatorship for over 30 years. Why wasn't America bothered with human rights and democracy for so long? Because it didn't matter to them.

In the case of Korea the American influence has been positive, but it has only turned out so well by following the Japanese model. They restrict foreign influence and focus heavily on exports. So in a sense Korea has done well by denying the usual US role and influence in its economy. It's a very unusual case actually.

And CFH, I know that there is no objective truth in issues such as these. This is a thread on a hidden board on a boxing site. I'm not writing a paper here, I am unwinding with a scandalously titled thread, it's nothing to get too worked up about. I believe it's quite true, but no doubt there are numerous other states with a checkered past too. America is leaps and bounds above any of those others though and that's the simple point that I am making. It's nothing to write a postcard to gran about.
