having just written a paper on how its hard for moderate muslims to integrate into europe when their fundamentalist counterparts behave in such an opppressive and disgusting way this only serves to reenforced what i already thought.

I agree with Ono and Oggie really. The right to freedom of speech extends to all, not only to those who have the same opinion as you.

The fact we alllow our citizens to protest things is fundamentally important to our democracy. I certainly don't want to live in a nation where freedom of speech is outlawed.

I do think both the UK and US use imagery of the heroic and brave soldier dying to defend our lands as a kind of emotional shield to deflect any and all criticism of our government's actions.

I'm not saying that Small was right to protest but I do think we as a nation are right to allow him.

BTW I'm not in agreement with the war but he is obviously a complete fucken retard with a one sided understanding of what this conflict even is. There is a rational way to oppose the war and an irrational way, this is irrational. His 'brothers and sisters' are also being murdered by thousands of his fellow Muslims but he would never hold a sign saying 'all Muslims go to hell' or 'all Sunni go to hell', he's a fucken idiot plain and simple. Plus, it's obvious that he's just doing this for attention don't you think?

Also, I'll defend a military man's honor to my death unless they are clearly out of line. None of us in our PC world can possibly relate to going from the farms of Iowa or the pubs (lol) of England to being thrust into the situation the soldiers are in now. It's sad because many are young enough to where there time in Iraq is a forming experience in their life and it becomes part of who they are. Small is just retarded and looking for attention.
