Considering that, I'd still go with the one you chose. The vast majority of it's use will be for sparring and that's a quality head gear. Wish I had it for myself. We use open face in sparring, always have, and have seen and got and gave countless bashes, bumps n bruises in the process. Fran`s words on peripheral vision make sense too. But also, I`ve been hit many times too around the eyes by velcro, and all it takes is one bad rip across the eyeball with that and it`s game over for boxing, and seeing. So it`s a trade off in the direction of safety imo.

You got me thinking bout buying one now.
I hope u know someone in the states, because ringside charges ridiculous prices to ship to Canada.

ya found that out the hard way going through title once. Original order was total $220, and when it arrived after final $80 charge from FedEx dude, collecting for customs or something, it tallied $440. Exactly dbl.

    Rival is my favorite.

Training headgear is thicker and covers everything like your chin. For competition headgear you may want some more sleek and trim and more open face so you can see better, move faster, and be less of a targer with thinner headgear. It's up to you really.

My vote is for the Grant full-face. When it comes to protection, and you are sparring often, spend the extra money and get quality equipment. I use Grant, but I have heard good things about Rival too.
