Well i am definately familiar with the stance i always thought it was just a beginners stance that some people decided to stick with lol. I always know Tyson used this stance. Like you I have been researching this and have found it is far more than just a beginners stance rather a very effective technique. But also like you i am haveing a hard time finding much on this technique especially on using it.

I have seen Tyson fight this way too, and yes his hands face INWARDS with tight elbows.

(My comment above about loose elbows was related to facing the palms outward, the opposite.)

Tyson, as I recall (haven't seen one of the replays in a couple of months) used a slightly dropped (lowered) defense than a peek-a-boo, his hands were at or below chin level, with the striking surfaces of his gloves almost touching (like he planned to twiddle his thumbs.)

He could see better than a true peek-a-boo, and he could rapidly move his hands just a few inches to block any head punch.

The hands were in really good position for infighting, hooks and uppercuts, or short straight shots from inside, which being generally shorter than all the other top heavyweights he tried to do: get inside and beat them up (literally upwards from below his opponent's chin height.)

Hadley worked Tysons corner at the Tyson-Lewis fight. He has a web site at www.hadleysboxing.com you might write him and ask for information. Herb M is correct that Tyson did modify his stance. I was at the Tyson-Lewis fight and Tyson was by that time, a shell of what he had once been. D'Amato also took Floyd Patterson to the championship but I can't say for sure where or when he picked up on teaching Peek A Boo.

Hey G Lion are you an inside fighter? Is the peek a boo style more for someone who is an in fighter?

Well, best answer I can give to "am I an inside fighter" , without going through writing a thesis is to say "That depends......"
Peek A Boo is not limited to in fighting, in and out, round, angle fighting..... You can modify it to suit whatever style you develop.

A lot of people go to peek-a-boo* when tight inside -- as long as they aren't clinching it might even be pretty much everybody.

It becomes more distinctive and recognizable as a (sub)style when done from outside and through all ranges.

*Unless we are distinguishing "ear muffs" from peek-a-boo, and then it's probably that most people go to something in between the two, or switch back and forth depending on the energy and movement of the opponent.

D'Amato used a modified version of the peek a boo...he would tweak it according to the fighters...Pattereson crouched down more then Tyson to get extra spring out of his punches as he did not have the power Mike did....Tyson used more side to side head movement and used the movement while jabbing his way inside

The stance is not one meant to be used by everyone...If not used proper it will cause you more issues then good...You have to use very good head movement at all times for it to be fully effective and you have to use your legs as well when coming in more then with other styles....

Winkly Wright has a more effective stance of fighting with the hands high up for the average person....

Cus only taught the style he tweaked to a certain few fighters then Kevin Rooney who in turn taught it to Nadia who trains the amateurs at the catskill gym early on at the moment....

Repitition is also another key part of Cus training technique.....EG Tyson as someone mention
