seems like Cotto just wants to get a couple more rounds in with Steward in his corner basically to adjust a bit more, which IMO is completely understandable

Red face Re: Miguel Cotto has turned down Andre Berto

Top Rank and it's incestuous bullshit is starting to seriously piss me off. I give it 5 years before they start producing their own title belts and essentially start functioning as a league .

Well, then maybe he should look into having the best fighters in a division actually fight one another...

yea i'm in agreement with you on that, but i also understand why Cotto might not want to take on a marquee name right now (although IMO he beats up Berto badly), and Berto well has the habit of screwing himself out of fights, Mosley and him were in negotiations again and well they offered Berto $400,000 and well he thought he was above that and well Mosley moved on to Mora

Smartest move Cotto could have done. He'll make more money getting beat up by Angulo then he will by getting beat up by Berto.

angulo and berto need another 3-4 solid matchups with 2nd tier opponents before the likes of miguel cotto should be considered.

I just see a raw youthful berto being taught a boxing lesson by the classier opponent
    one dangerous horrible bloke

You back up every single thing Cotto does, good or bad. Clearly, IYO it would be understandable. I don't disagree, here, however, for different reasons. If you are going to be a champion at 154, fight some of the top 154 guys. Foreman and Martirosyan are top ten guys. In a way, Cotto is making his way up the ladder of competition at 154. His next fight after Martirosyan should be against tougher opposition at 154. Martinez, Angulo, Williams, Dzinziruk etc. Truthfully, a fight against Dzinziruk at 154, would be a great match-up of styles. I favor Dzinziruk, but I haven't seen enough of him to be completely confident in his abilities. At this stage, I see Angulo pulverizing Cotto. Williams outworking him with volume and Martinez outclassing him. I don't want to see a Pacquiao rematch.

i don't back up every sing thing Cotto does, it was reported that he was in negotiations here in PR when Mayweather came over here, and as i said i was hoping that Cotto wouldn't take the fight, apart from maybe Jennings and Gomez, name one weak fighter he's taken on since 2007 so same way as other fighters such as Bute and Pavlik deserved a break and chance to take on gimme i think Cotto should at this point, especially given how his fight with Pacquiao ended and the fact that he has a new trainer, i'm not saying he should just take on guys like Foreman and Martirosyan for the rest of his career, cause i'd love to see him take on guys like Berto, Bradley, Williams, Cintron, Dzinziruk, Martinez (at 154), Angulo (who i think Cotto would completely outbox), and even a rematch with Margarito (cause i believe that Cotto would beat the shit out of the cheat in a rematch), but he does deserve a chance to take on decent competition as he is doing while he adjusts to being with Steward, it's not like he's taking on someone like Lujan, Julio, or R. Hearns

i agree with ONIXAA, in that cotto would get a nasty beating against alfredo angulo! if cotto thought margarito hit hard and pressured him, wait till he fights a bigger, stronger angulo who also hits alot harder than cotto. i'm sure cotto's going to build up a nice early lead but i seriously doubt he can hurt angulo. on the flip side, angulo is going to come after cotto and make him fight. i think cotto's face is going to look like raw fish after angulo gets thru with him. and this coming from a cotto fan.

Yet when it's rumoured that Khan will be fighting a weak opponent for pretty much the same reason you flag him up on it

Cotto fans are much quieter version of Pac fans or Mayweather fans who believe he does no wrong either.

Sweeping generalities like this are what make you lose the little credibility you had to begin with.
