yea i'm in agreement with you on that, but i also understand why Cotto might not want to take on a marquee name right now (although IMO he beats up Berto badly), and Berto well has the habit of screwing himself out of fights, Mosley and him were in negotiations again and well they offered Berto $400,000 and well he thought he was above that and well Mosley moved on to Mora

Smartest move Cotto could have done. He'll make more money getting beat up by Angulo then he will by getting beat up by Berto.
The key is Self-discipline.

angulo and berto need another 3-4 solid matchups with 2nd tier opponents before the likes of miguel cotto should be considered.
I just see a raw youthful berto being taught a boxing lesson by the classier opponent
one dangerous horrible bloke

Respect the opinion, however I think Berto would DESTROY, I think CRUCIFY would be a better description, Cotto. Probably a worst beating then he took from Manny Pac. Mostly because of the mileage but also Berto hits harder and is obviosuly bigger than Manny and he still has alot of speed.
As for Angulo, he doest the same as Berto but slower and he may not get the knockout but he punishes Cotto all the same.
The key is Self-discipline.

You think Berto would beat Cotto worse then Pac? It's fun to watch Berto highlight reels but he is not even close to a finished product and at this point probably never will be. It would be a close fight I think Cotto would win.
Was the fight at 147 or 154? I don't think Cotto should go back down to 147 yet. Cotto-Berto is undeniably a greater fight then Cotto-Matirosyan.

who of not has Berto blasted out? i mean it took him longer than both Williams and Cotto to get Quintana out of there, Berto has been hurt by light punchers before (Collazo and Cosme Rivera) and Cotto hits a hell of a lot harder than both, both have stamina issues in the later rounds, and Berto tends to throw the gameplan out of the window, add in the fact that he has yet to face a marquee name, Cotto stops Berto in 8, also don't forget that a Jr. Welterweight did what Berto couldn't which was knock Urango the fuck out, Berto never even really wobbled him, hell he didn't look impressive at all in a long time cause even Quintana was able to get to him early on

I think a few people havent read the first post properly. It says because Cotto doesnt want to fight Berto, Berto will now look to fight Angulo while Cotto goes for Martyrosian
I think Berto stops Cotto, hes quick accurate and powerfull.

Opinions are like assholes... everybody's got one. Here's mine: Cotto haters will bet against him against the most meaningless Joe Blow off the street. Credit is hard to come by from haters, and is quickly taken away at the first sign of weakness. But MY opinion is that Cotto is a different fighter with Steward now in his corner. Miguel made a terrible mistake in taking the Pacquiao fight with Joe fukking Santiago in his corner. No offense to the man... but he doesn't know SQUAT about boxing strategy or game plans. Steward is a proven professional. Angulo's a tough guy, but he gets taken apart by Cotto. And Berto? I've been wanting to see Berto's balloon deflated for a long time. He's got skills, don't get me wrong. But it rubs me the wrong way when the press builds a bandwagon and everybody jumps on before the "annointed one" does anything of true merit. Berto is still raw, and has had his rough moments against boxers not in the same tier as Cotto. So you do the math.
ANGULO is going to destroy that aroz con pollo eatin MOFO.al cotto is doing is loking for one good PAYDAY.that CHUMP IS SHOT BIGTIME............
Cotto is done
