Chad Dawson vs Jean Pascal My Thoughts.

Since judges don't have punch counters in front of them, and the crowd exploded everytime Pascal threw a power shot, there is no way Dawson was getting a decision. This fight should have been much more simple for a pure boxer, Pascal couldn't counter so as long as Dawson kept punching and didn't let Pascal reset he had nothing to worry about. But he did neither of those things, he would land a good jab and back out, throw a 6 shot combo and then back out. He LET Pascal take this fight from him. Pascal looked great for the first three rounds, but after that Dawson was starting to loosen up and showed exactly how easily he could dominate when he chose to. He chose not too, his corner was pleading with him to press and he just didn't until the 11th when the headbutt happened.

I kept thinking he (Dawson) had West Nile Virus.

Dawson never seemed to take charge like he could have, in a way I thought from the 5th round on Dawson played with Pascal. I know Dawson got caught a couple of times but it seemed that he was clearly landing at will, when he threw. In the 11th it seemed that Dawson had enough and went for the KO which in my mind was clearly coming, the head butt was unfortunate...After the fight I thought of something that Cus D'Amato used to say "Never carry a fighter, take him out as soon as you can because if you try to carry him they might be carrying you out." I think Chad Dawson was taking it too easy and paid a price by letting the pts put him into a situation where he had to take chances....

My thoughts on this fight are .... Well I have none. Dawson did exactley what I thought he would which is not much of anything. Pascal landed the better looking punches and the crowd got behind that. Dawson did alot of pawing,and getting hit by some stupid shit. The eleventh round has been the point I have been trying to get across about Dawson for many years. Very unexciting,and shows no balls. He had his man out on his feet and all he had to do was land another punch and the fight would have ended. Pascal looked like he had blacked out for a minute and what did Dawson do move in and CLINCH .

What I saw in the fight was a fighter with a great boxing toolset who got flustered by movement and angles. He was also affected by his opponents speed.

We can sit back and all blame Dawson for what he would not do, but the blame should go to Pascal. He fought a fight which kept Dawson guessing, hesitant and took him right out of his comfort zone.

The only time Dawson saw real success was when Pascal got gassed. Even then Pascal still seemed to have been more preserving energy and riding out getting stunned. He started getting back into his groove right before the headbutt.

Dawson tried attacking in the 8th round and almost got knocked down for his effort. All I am saying is it may not be about what he did wrong, but may have everything to do with what Pascal did right.

Pascal wasnt hurt in the 11th, he didnt get puched around like a rag doll like Dawson did in one of the rounds, nearly truning his back, looking very novice! Pascal was just tired, he took a nice hook after Dawsons burst and had it gone to the 12th I think Dawson shot his bolt in the 11th and would probably have been stopped He was slowing right down after that burst.

Pascal is good fun to watch. Dawson is boring and shite! Any talk of him fighting Calzaghe now sounds absolutely absurd!!!

are you kidding me? the only reason Pascal had success was his speed and great footwork, Froch has neither, Dawson would make Carl "the crotch" Froch look like the moron he truly is especially if he goes in with his hands down, I'd pick Dawson over Pascal in a rematch and it'd probably end by TKO, and i'd pick Pascal to beat Froch in a rematch and he'd probably do it by KO as well

Dawson lost to someone who lost to Froch. Hes been found out Id take Froch and Kessler over Dawson, they are too aggressive for him and both have better power than Pascal and better chins and can fight whole rounds. Dawson doesnt like to fight and likes to box at a nice comfortable pace. What Pascal showed was anyone who takes the fight to him that isnt old has a chance of making him go in to a shell.

That burst in the 11th, looked good but you could see imediately after that, Dawson had blown himself out! He would have had nothing for the final round, whereas Pascal would have had another couple of round winning bursts in him.

None of the super 6 fighters would have any qualm about fighting him now and Calzaghe will smirk as he thinks about how easily he beat Kessler who beat Froch who beat Pascal who beat Dawson Oh, he would have had the same smirk when Hopkins piissed all over Pavlik!
