Chad Dawson vs Jean Pascal My Thoughts.

What I saw in the fight was a fighter with a great boxing toolset who got flustered by movement and angles. He was also affected by his opponents speed.

We can sit back and all blame Dawson for what he would not do, but the blame should go to Pascal. He fought a fight which kept Dawson guessing, hesitant and took him right out of his comfort zone.

The only time Dawson saw real success was when Pascal got gassed. Even then Pascal still seemed to have been more preserving energy and riding out getting stunned. He started getting back into his groove right before the headbutt.

Dawson tried attacking in the 8th round and almost got knocked down for his effort. All I am saying is it may not be about what he did wrong, but may have everything to do with what Pascal did right.

are you kidding me? the only reason Pascal had success was his speed and great footwork, Froch has neither, Dawson would make Carl "the crotch" Froch look like the moron he truly is especially if he goes in with his hands down, I'd pick Dawson over Pascal in a rematch and it'd probably end by TKO, and i'd pick Pascal to beat Froch in a rematch and he'd probably do it by KO as well

Hes been found out Id take Froch and Kessler over Dawson, they are too aggressive for him and both have better power than Pascal and better chins and can fight whole rounds. Dawson doesnt like to fight and likes to box at a nice comfortable pace. What Pascal showed was anyone who takes the fight to him that isnt old has a chance of making him go in to a shell.

That burst in the 11th, looked good but you could see imediately after that, Dawson had blown himself out! He would have had nothing for the final round, whereas Pascal would have had another couple of round winning bursts in him.

None of the super 6 fighters would have any qualm about fighting him now and Calzaghe will smirk as he thinks about how easily he beat Kessler who beat Froch who beat Pascal who beat Dawson Oh, he would have had the same smirk when Hopkins piissed all over Pavlik!

Sorry esse, but I totally disagree. That burst in the 11th was the best burst from either fighter for the entire fight. And I think had the cut not have happened, Pascal was going down in that round. And how do you know after being solidly hurt in the 11th round, Pascal would have found it in him to fight strongly through the 12th? It's more likely the tide was turning. Either way, there is no way to know.

Froch had a lot of trouble with Dirrell who isn't as good as Dawson and not as big and not as fast as Dawson. It's a styles thing. Froch will have trouble with faster boxers (e.g. Calzaghe would eat him up). Kessler/Dawson is a better fight. I'll give you that although I wasn't super impressed with Kessler's performance against Froch. Given that he was the champion, I actually thought Froch did enough to win or close to it.

I dont rate Froch very much, although he is strong.

How the f*ck do you explain Pascal outworking and hurting Dawson but not being capable of the same against Froch?

Dont forget, both were at exactly the same point in their careers, neither had fought a top ten super middle yet, so you cant just say that Pascal has improved because Froch has fought the better opponents since.

I think what has happened with Dawson is he has been over rated a bit, hes fought some older fighters who arent as fast or powerfull as Pascal, and all of a sudden he has to fight at a pace and is getting caught and hurt. This intimidated him and made him reluctant to engage.

Dawson was finished after that last burst of his in the 11th, physically and mentally. He knew he wasnt really hurting Pascal and that hed just drained himself trying. I dont think he would have been capable of another sustained effort like that in the last. Pascal was fine and fighting back when Dawson was pulled out. At no point in the fight was Pascal made to flop around and litterally jump off the floor to grab on for dear life like he made Dawson.

I think pascal goes in to a rematch much more confident and puts it on Dawson even more and Dawson STILL fights with no heart.
