Thread: How to beat Lou Del Valle

    I think I know how I would fight him. Del Valle is a southpaw (I think) and he's more of a slick boxer than anything else. I would slip his jab and use the old Bert Cooper combo left hook to the body and left uppercut, but you have to beware the left cross when doing that and I would rather have a situation where I block the left cross as I'm throwing the hook and have the uppercut be a counter. But as with all southpaws you really want to establish the right cross and I think the left hook to the body diverts attention enough to leave that punch wide open.

    I never found southpaws all that troubling to be honest.

    I always found the straight right hand the punch that caused the southpaws most problems especially fighting from the outside. If your friend is more of a swarming fighter though and if he has decent head movement I can see how the L hook, Uppercut combo would be effective!
