You know Hornfinger, it used to be that heavyweight title holders would just wait until their mandatory came up to defend their title...The Klitschko's are very active champions...of course Sam Peter is the mandatory now, but Wlad is having a difficult time finding an opponent that will actually fight him. Vitali just doesn't have much time to fuck about with Valuev and Don King haggling over contracts....Briggs took the money and I'm fairly certain Shannon could still beat Valuev so IMO he might not be a better fight but he's a more risky fight.

A 50/50 split with THE Heavyweight Champion of the World with no futures and hell Wlad was even up for fighting at Stamford Bridge and giving up any home field advantage....but I suppose a trinket title holder who may have at one time drawn in close to 20K fans deserves a little more money

All I will say on this whole bout and what surrpounds it is I have heard from a very very very good source that Briggs has managed to up his workrate in sparring sessions to 5 punches a round so Vitaly has 60 punches to worry about if this goes the distance ...

I mean seriously Shannon Fucking Briggs!!!!! Rob Calloway is the biggest name he has fought since the Sultan loss....Since losing to Sultan in 2007 he is 3-0 with 1 NC the NC was due to the illegal substance drug failure...This deserves a title shot? Vitali and his team even considered this a worthy opp why?

It make me sick to tell the truth and I lost a big chunk of respect for Vitali

Sexton, Boytsov, Chagaev, Valuev, Solis, Pianeta, Platov, Ustinov...are all more deserving though really none are deserving of a title shot at the moent with the exception of Valuev who is only 1 fight removed from being a belt holder...But Briggs?....Take the top 25 and no less then 15 nof them would say yes in a second so p-lease don't start with the nonsense of noone will fight him...shit even in loss a title shot is a title shot in the eyes of some of mthese fellows especially the ones starting to get past their mid 20's

    Sexton....really?

Boytsov, he's ok an up and comer, got some skill to him, a little small and a little green just yet but I'd rather he stick in the WBA line instead of allowing himself to be ruined by Vitali, plus he had been trained by Sdunek in the very recent past. I like the way this kid fights but it's not going to work vs Vitali.

Chagaev, I think Ruslan is man enough to take the bout, but we've already seen him get beaten down by a Klitschko, must we see that again. PLUS I think he wants his old title back...which he'll be LUCKY to get another shot at given what Don King, Chicken Little, and manager have said about him. It would be a decent fight but we all know the outcome.

Odlanier Solis I believe is supposed to be Vitali's next mandatory...I would have rather this fight happened but who knows, maybe Vitali wants it later, maybe Vitali doesn't want it at all, maybe Solis doesn't want it....I am not sure, but I haven't heard either Klitschko say 1 word about Solis. Solis needs to watch his weight as well...I don't want him to eat himself out of the division.

Fransisco Pianetta is too green right now...just because he walked through Mike Marrone doesn't make him a top challenger

Oleh Platov is nowhere near ready for this kind of fight

Alexander Ustinov is actually contracted with K2 Promotions and has been on a number of Klitschko cards....I don't know if that's a conflict of intrests but whatever. Ustinov isn't ready to fight anyone of note or high calibre.

.....we wouldn't be talking about this if that Yehti Valuev had the stones to fight Vitali

Lyle the names really don't matter I just think like I said ANYONE is more deserving of a title shot then Briggs....Hell Paul Malignaggi is more deserving of a HW title shot then Briggs

Wel Malinaggi may be exaggerating just a tad, but I understand....but I just hope you understand that Vitali Klitschko an injury prone 38-39 year old WBC heavyweight champion is just trying to have an interesting "stay busy" fight, and Shannon Briggs was all that was left once Valuev refused....I mean you didn't expect Chicken Little to fight him did you?

You think Shannon Briggs would beat Valuev?? Really? I don't. I know Valuev is shite but Briggs is even worse. I mean his greatest achievement is going the distance with a 47 year old fat George Foreman and getting a total gift decision and that was what 1996ish? He's even worse now.

....and Valuev got a gift decision vs Evander Holyfield who was about 47 when that fight happened, your point?

Shannon can still punch and Valuev has NEVER fought anyone that was a PROVEN heavyweight power puncher....never EVER in his whole career
