Default Odlanier Solis has signed with DKP

Here comes a WBA title shot and a rematch of Solis and Chicken Little's amateur bout. Oddly enough I think Chicken Little COULD beat Solis, but it's a toss up fight.

Wise move by Solis IMO, Don King will protect AND seek out big shots and big money for Solis and the way King has the WBA under his thumb you can bet your house on Solis getting a title shot after his next fight. I think King will hedge his bets on Solis....up until I read this news I always figured Valuev was next, but with Solis in his stable, Don King may throw Valuev to Vitali.

Here's to hoping he can come in under 260!

Although he has come in obscenely out of shape, if he could just focus on his conditioning he could be absolutely the Heavyweight champ after the Klits retire.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

He does need to be at MOST 240 to give it his best shot...if he was ever in shape yeah he'd EASILY be the 3rd best heavyweight in the world.

He's currently a mandatory for Vitali Klitschko, but it'll be interesting to see what Don King does with him because I think a fight with Solis vs Chicken Little is big bucks and before people get on me and say Wlad and Vitali don't have meaningful fights and Chickenshit does it's because of a few things: History (this is a rematch of their amateur bout), Drama (both guys can bang but have questionable chins), and this is the most important they are on the SAME level as far as skill goes and that's why it's interesting. Wlad and Vitali are so damn good it's not a matter of "Will they knock their opponent out" it's "WHEN will they knock out their opponent"?

Gotta agree with you on this one Stevie.

Solis pretty much just signed away any chance to become the REAL heavyweight champion.

    Not that he could anyway.

Am I the only one who believes his fat ass would lose to Evander Holyfield ?

He's signed with DKP? So that means we only get to see him fight once a year and never reach his full potential while Don King is in the background of all his fights and press conferences talking about "my brother, proclimations oppression is overcomed, black rocky" etc references?

If any fighter signs with DKP they are a fool.

Lyle your hatred of Haye is totally ridiculous. He would absolutely destroy Solis. He had him all over the place when he was a skinny amateur and now Haye is a GENUINE HW that can bang hard and has learned to avoid shots (which is what cost him in the Ams). His speed is like nothing anyone else in the HW's has had for years.

Solis for me is not the fighter he was when he used to HAVE to make weight in the ams and ultimately the fact he doesn't have to make weight has cost him his pro career before it has even started really. He should be weighing 225ish and for me losing 40+ pounds to be in shape would have him leaving too much in the Gym. Surely you realise these facts.

Still an interesting fight though right? I mean sure Chicken Little has shown improvements since the amateurs and sure Solis has gotten big and fat...but the point remains Solis stopped him. It's interesting because they have history and a much more interesting history than Chicken little and Audley Harrison who used to share male modeling techniques and then had a falling out ...this is BOXING not Dynasty! Solis got hurt, came back and won....will it be different or the same in the pros? People can answer however they want to but it's still interesting.

Solis would also be a good fight for Boytsov or Povetkin. They are interesting based on their skill level and all of them being undefeated. It would be nice for some contenders to fight and truly earn a title shot and actually have a chance at winning.

It's not as though Haye was hurt though. He was just too far behind on points to pitter patter punches. Haye had him really hurt and under the am rules that left the ref giving him a standing count. If it was a pro fight Haye would have finished him no doubt IMO.

The two have since gone in total opposite directions and it is clear too.

IMO Haye wouldn't beat Solis easily, it'd be a 50/50 fight, don't forget Solis blasted out the same Barrett that Haye did, but he did it in 2 rounds with one punch, and he didn't get wobbled in the process

Solis is a slow plodding fat slob.

Really doesn't impress me at all.

He's fat but he has damn good skills and stamina for a far slob, if he could find the motivation to get in shape he could cause some surprises I think. Thus said, no matter what his ties are with the WBA, I always doubt it is any good to sign with Don King.

He's got very good skills, he's a dangerous puncher, but yes his tendency to be overweight is worrying to me.

At this point I DO NOT think signing with Don King is a bad deal for because Don King has very few viable options at heavyweight, outside of Solis he has: Valuev, Austin, Meehan, and I think he still has Shannon Briggs though I'm not sure. For that reason I think Don King will protect him and build him up a bit....although with Solis already being overweight signing with DKP could just allow Solis to become lazier and fatter.
