It is very close not quite clearly at all, Tapia beat old man Madina to claim his third weight title, his defenses on a whole are on par with Calzaghe, Hatton was number one is his division much longer than Tapia, both lost there biggest fights, Hatton has a better win on his resume, like I said very close I would give the edge to Tapia.

Hatton never beat an elite fighter who was in his prime. His best win over a fighter still in his prime is the one over the one-dimensional, crude Juan Urango. Collazo beat him. Malignaggi was an ok win. But Cotto had already bashed him good. And by all rights Paulie should of been coming off a loss to Lovemore N'dou. Hatton remains one of the most overrated fighters in the last 50 years.

hatton had a fantastic carear beating some top contenders along the way and beating them in style, not least tzu who was considered the best of the best at the time of the fight. he also built a massive fan base in britain because of his personality and the excitement he brought to the ring

Yep, Tapia was huge in the states especially when he first fought Danny Romero and all the drama behind it. The fight was on regular HBO and not PPV probably because of the weight they fought at. In fact I can't really remember any fight below 130 that was on PPV. The only fights I can remember being on PPV at 130 or lower was Pac and his wars with Morales, Barrera, and Marquez.

Tapia was a better all round fighter than Hatton and in my eyes more accomplished.
