He took a lot of shots from Margarito. Why? The only motivation at this point is money. Pacquiao should just retire. He doesn't need to fight anyone unless it is Mayweather to make the biggest payday in history.

Martinez and Williams are already in the top 5 on most lists and fight at the weight Pacquiao is fighting at now. Bradley and Alexander are fighting at the weight Pacquiao fought at before and a weight he won't fight at again. Why make boxers come up to fight him if he could fight someone at the weight he is fighting at now? Basically, I just think that for his legacy, Martinez and Williams are much bigger wins.
My preference after Margarito :
2011
Floyd
Floyd Rematch
2012
Berto is he's unbeaten at the time if not Bradley. both at 54
Sergio Martinez @160
2013
1 Easy Farewell fight
Retire

I completely agree that Floyd is the preferred choice, but assuming that won't happen in his next fight (although maybe the fight afterward), you're saying you prefer Berto? Actually, I agreee in that I mean I may like that more than Bradley/Alexander winner. I still say Sergio Martinez at 154 is the best fight out there for him in terms of noteworthy opponent and securing his legacy.

I agree that Martinez and/or Williams would be much bigger wins, but I really don't think Pacquiao will fight them. Martinez is a legit MW and Williams probably is too, I think that would just be a step too far for Pacquiao and I think his team would probably feel the same way.

I'm pretty sure Martinez can't make 154, and even if he did I think that is too much of a step for Pacquiao. The winner of Bradley/Alexander is the logical choice in terms of being the same size, considering that Pac really is a small welterweight. And I really don't think he needs to fight Martinez or Williams to secure his legacy. It's already set. In fact any victory over an elite opponent now only enhances it not secure it.

Yes, I mean I doubt Pacquiao fights them, but I think that the winner of that fight would be the best possible win out there for Pacquiao other than Mayweather bar none. Martinez started his career at 147 and fought most of his last five years at 154 and Williams has fought most of his last five years at 147. Martinez is fighting Williams at 157. I can guarantee you for a fight with Pacquiao, either will drop to 154 in a heart beat. I would also say that Martinez is more a junior middleweight than a middleweight, which is reflective in that he has fought most of his career at 154.
Martinez can definitely make 154 if he is making 157 for Williams now and he fought Kermit Cintron at 154 and most of his career at that weight. And for a fight with Pacquiao? I bet he'd try and make 147. I mentioned earlier in the thread that he only dropped his belts at 154 because he was forced to choose between the middleweight belt and the junior middleweight belt, but he would have held defended both of them if he had been permitted.
Margarito was big welterweight/junior middleweight. In fact, he is taller than Martinez and in my opinion a little bit bigger; either way, there isn't a size difference between Margarito and Martinez. If he will fight Margarito in a junior middleweight match - why not Martinez? Is Martinez too good? I don't think he needs to secure his legacy either, clearly, he is a great fighter with a secured legacy, but a fight with Martinez/Williams does more to enhance his legacy than a fight with Bradley/Alexander. What would you personally say is a more impressive win? And if he can't fight Mayweather, why not take the biggest challenge out there?
Fine though after Martinez/Williams, Berto or Bradley/Alexander winner?

Pacman vs Berto

I would want Pacquiao to go after what I think everyone will agree to as the greatest challenge (other than Mayweather) in the winner of Martinez/Williams. It would be nice for him to assume the role of an underdog once more for the victory will be sweeter. If he loses, I don't believe that it will damage his reputation one bit. It would just mean that he has reached his limit.
