Obviously I have no idea whether that is an assault rifle, or not, as I am a civilised human being.
<edit> and this was all before I noticed that you misappropriate George Orwell. As I said, "next".

Nothing like personal attacks to strengthen your own arguments. Its a National Match Springfield M1A in a JAE stock with a high powered scope that I use for competition shooting and some hunting. Not sure why owning it and knowing what it is makes me uncivilized but way to stay on topic. Considering that Orwell was a veteran and by all accounts served very well I think my use of his quote is very fitting for me. Some reason you feel the necessity to call me out though?

But also a great, big, giant socialist which I'm guessing you're not?
Although, of course, apologies if you are.
My original argument was simply about the amount of protection given to a downed/prone fighter in MMA. Stats lie, we all know that, how many more boxing matches are there than MMA?
It may be a personal belief but I don't like seeing people smacked in the head when they're laying on the ground gasping for air.

While I wouldn't vote old George into a political office it stands to say I would gladly have stood shoulder to shoulder with him on the battlefield. Anyway....
Like I said entertainment value is subjective. But I think differentiating Briggs taking a severe beating for four more rounds than he probably should have and a downed fighter in MMA taking a couple of extra shots is kind of splitting hairs. You don't have to like the sport but to feign distaste due to its savageness compared to boxing just isn't supported by the numbers IMHO. Hell even American Football has much more fatalities than MMA.

aint most deaths from combat sports from continued punishement? if so u gotta say boxing is more dangerous?

I doubt you'd see ol' Georgie boy anywhere near the front line. ;-) Ok, I'll call a truce on any political wrangling.
The Briggs fight was bad. I'll admit. I'm not saying that boxing can't do more, but I am saying that boxing has tried (or has been forced) to make the sport as safe as possible - I don't see that MMA is doing the same.
<edit> and look at the ol' Texas boy in my avatar. Yeeha!
