Green Vs Johnson

All credit in the world to Johnson, who at 41 remains competitive and dedicated. Not much to say about Green, however, who looked like shet. Kind of speaks to the quality of the weight division (or lack of), when an aging Johnson and a mediocre Green are in a Super Six tournament. I guess that's why this type of thing (tournament) isn't needed in the lower weights... more quality fighters in there. Regardless, I think Abraham sweeps through the tournament and ends up undisputed champ. IMO, he's the only one in the tournament worth watching.

Dirrell already did a number on Abraham and even if he wouldn't of gotten hit with the cheap shot, i had him ahead by quite a bit, IMO Abraham sparks Froch and then goes on to get schooled by Ward, also see Ward being the one with obviously the most impressive resume in the division, i'd dare to go as far and say his record would already be more impressive than Calzaghe's at super middle, with wins over Miranda, Kessler, Green, Bika, Johnson, and Abraham (that is if everything goes as expected)

They need to bottle and sell Johnsons DNA. Skill wise he is pretty ordinary...drive and desire wise he is really something special.

Solid argument. In this case, it's nothing more than a gut feeling that the result would be different in another match between Dirrell and Abraham. AA's got the physical tools to win the whole thing. He has outrageous power and... his resume isn't too bad either. In any case, he's super-exciting to watch, which is one of the reasons why I'm a fan.

Hey, I told you guys "If Johnson makes weight, he's a very dangerous fighter in the Super Six". The result doesn't surprise me at all, what DOES surprise me is why someone still looking for a big fight (cough, cough) B-Hop......doesn't instinctively say "Hopkins-Johnson 2!"...or perhaps Bernard knows Johnson has improved with age

Style-wise Johnson should be easy to handle for Ward or Abraham, but I think he'd give Froch one hell of a fight, I also think at this point he could stop a healthy Kessler as well.

Kelly Pavlik had better thank his lucky stars he never had to fight Glen Johnson...Glen would demolish him as Pavlik is psychologically weak.

I agree IMO he is the most exciting fighter in the tourney, but IMO Ward is the most technically skilled fighter and well the smartest fighter in the tourney, although it doesn't make fights interesting he does exactly what he has to in a fight to win, even if it means giving a dull performance, that's why i think that he'll win the tourney and then end up fighting Bute

Just to clarify. Johnson and Abraham have three points, Froch has two. So, if Froch wins, he moves on to face whoever has more total points in rounds between Johnson/Kessler, and Abraham. If Froch loses, he faces Ward.

Froch has the handspeed advantage over him and obviously Carl is much younger, but I think Glen is stronger (physically and psychologically), he's got reach over him (74 1/2" to 75" according to boxrec), and I think the pressure Johnson brings to a fight is enough to take him over the top. Glen wouldn't mind fighting Froch in his back yard, it simply doesn't bother the guy, he fights even harder when he's the "away team".

Johnson's fighting style is unnerving to a lot of fighter, he doesn't foul, he isn't dirty, he is just scrappy, he does work that people don't like. Glen throws to the body a lot, he is constantly moving forward no matter what you hit him with, and whether the punch is blocked or you catch him clean he never waivers and he'll come back stronger and harder.....I just see that mentally breaking Froch.

Johnson would no doubt beat Jermain Taylor at any point in their careers, which is very sad for me to state because I always thought JT had "it" he had all the potential in the world but it just never picked up after the Hopkins win, it should have all been down hill for him after that.

Green to protest loss

The team of Allan Green has formally notified the Nevada State Athletic Commission of their intent to file an appeal of referee Robert Byrd’s decision to call a halt to his Super Six bout this past Saturday evening against Glen Johnson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Johnson was awarded a knockout victory at the close of the eighth round. Green went to the canvas after being on the receiving end of what he and his team feel were rabbit punches. Boxing attorney Josh Dubin has been hired to handle the appeal. Dubin is known for successfully overturning Timothy Bradley’s knockout victory over Nate Campbell to a no contest. The appeal will be filed by the end of the week, and the rules of the NSAC entitle Green to a decision within sixty days of the filing of his petition.

Green's body language was awful, he looked like he wanted out of there after Johnson hurt him the first time. It was impressive from Johnson, he landed some good combinations and landed by far the more effective shots. It should be a good scrap against the Froch-Abraham loser

I agree That Dirrell was whooping AA. But AA was seriously turning the tide of the fight. I think if he didnt get DQd then he would've won the fight.
