What makes it worse is that he is only in the top spot thru bad judging, and retirements. I mean anyone who knows boxing clearly could see that JMM won their 2 fights, and if Joe C and particularly PBF were still around Manny would be 3 at best.
Top P4P fighters used to be great fighters like Roy jones, Pernell Whitaker, PBF, BHOP, and Trinidad. All guys that P4P would destroy Manny.
Eagle, there must be something in your vegemite this morning? Pacquiao has fought Barrera, Morales, Marquez twice, DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey and now Margarito in the past few years along with wins over Solis, Diaz and Larios and you reckon he is a sub standard PFP no.1? He has lost once in 11 years against Morales in 2005 and avenged that loss twice in the the following 18 months. If Manny is so limited, how has he manged to beat all of these guys? DLH was supposed to have blown him away, Hatton and Cotto were going to do it too? We all want to see him up against Floyd, would a win there be sufficient for a PFF no.1 ranking from you?

We should put this thread into perspective. It was made a long time ago. Manny's fight with Marquez was still fresh in the minds of many and Manny hadn't quite become the wrecking machine that he is today.

Eagle has probably re-evaluated his position somewhat. Just as many others have too. Hidsight is all well and good, but I don't think it serves any greater purpose to rake up old threads and put old opinions down. Times change and just as Manny has changed so have the thoughts of many of us too.

Not that you reignited the thread mind.

Because he was not quite the wrecking machine that he is today?!!! It's because he has not fought a fighter like Marquez since 2008! It is easy to look like a wrecking machine against fighters that have issues and are past it...AND they suit your style perfectly by coming forward. Some of us aint drinking the kool aid! You clearly think Manny can beat Floyd. But lets say your new found idol loses...lets say Floyd exposes him worse than Marquez did. Will you be man enough to admit his recent wins where overhyped?! Hope so.

Manny is not my idol, but I respect what he has been doing. I do think Manny has the tools to beat Floyd, but if he gets his rear end spanked then of course I will hold my hands up and say 'I got that one a bit wrong'. I've never been one to run away when I get a pick wrong and like with any boxing fan, I have my fair share of them.

    No big deal for me.

Can you enlighten me on who said Manny was going to get "blown away" by Oscar, Hatton, or Cotto?! I certainly didn't think he was...neither did many other people on this board. That is what is so ridiculous about some of you Pac fans. Trying to somehow make his recent wins extraordinary because you claim no one expected them. As an example...i, along with almost everyone else on this board (not to mention the media), fully expected Pac to destroy Margo...because Margo is a limited, slow, mentally weakened fighter (he got exposed as a cheater). Now whether Pac was stupid in allowing himself to take Margo's shots or his defense is porous, or he simply was trying to show heart...is besides the point. He beat a fighter HE WAS SUPPOSED TO EASILY BEAT. Fact is...he has not faced a great fighter on top of their game since Marquez. If he fights Floyd and wins...you can justify the hype.
