If marquez stays at 135, which I think would be best for him, there just aren't many other options aside from guererro. Perhaps soto or funeka and that is really about it...He shouldn't move up to 140 because 135 is probably as high as he should be. the mayweather fight was fought at 143 and we know he looked less than spectacular in the fightto put it mildly, sure some of that is down to how good pbf is but part of it had top be jmm's weight and smaller size, he's just not big enough to go above 135. I honestly don't think jmm- guererro would be a bad fight at all both got decent pop to their punches and think it would actually be quite exciting.

He didn't look good against the top competition at 147 and I agree 147 is too big of a step up.

However, I like his chances against some of the top guys at 140. Not to say that 135 may not be his best weight right now. I like his chances against Devon Alexander seeing how much trouble Alexander had with a good boxer in Kotelnik. At this point, I favor Khan over him, but that is not to say it wouldn't be a good fight. Same goes for Bradley. And I mean Maidana and him would be a good fight too. Right?

Oh Maidana/jmm would probably be a hell of a fight, and yes he probably would give devon hell especially cause jmm punches a lot harder than kotelnik. I'm not saying he wouldn't be able to compete with and beat some of the top 140's I just don't think it would be in his best interest to do so. He's like what 36/37 all those guys mentioned are young guns and to go in the ring against them with even a small disadvantage would be stupid imo, like why put himself in that position is kind of what I'm saying.

The 'let's all share the pot and keep everyone else out' in house mentality is something that does a lot of harm to boxing. Instead of seeing Pac against a fresh off beating Margarito Mosley we got a Cotto fresh off a beating and a dodgy win over Clottey. Then we get Clottey himself and then we get Margarito fresh off a ban and a KO loss, but as long as we can keep all the cash in the stable, right?

It is disgusting and I hope Arum pops his clogs soon for it. And if DLH wants to start doing the same then I will wish the same ill on him. If you can't find the right balance between giving the fans what they want AND making money, then you are being a dick. Arum just can't seem to help himself with this rubbish.

I am obviously not a fan of this.

ya its bullshit. its really hurting boxing. The promoters just do whats easier to set up. I cant stand it when they do that. Arum has got to be the worst at doing it though.

I wouldn't mind in-house fights if they were the best available options. I quite liked the Cotto-Pac match-up despite the fact he wasn't long off the Marg beating, though Clottey and Margarito were poor match ups IMO, the only interesting thing about those was the size difference. This is what harms boxing though, when the best fights aren't getting made because promoters want to keep all the money to themselves. If Golden Boy start doing this then things will get even worse. JMM-Guerrero has no interest to me, I'd rather him fight some of the guys at 140, though he's not as effective past 135 I feel he'd still be competitive enough against the guys up there.
