Why did he spend the whole entire build up to this fight talking about how he'd had surgery and extensive rehab on his shoulder and that the injury was now recovered then?

If his shoulder was better then why would he lose to a fighter like Smith? Never been the same fighter since Calzaghe that's why.

Dudes name was LEFT HOOK Lacy...he ruined his money punch, ever see him throw the same type of left hooks? What kind of evidence you got that he was mentally shot? Got an example thats not related to his output being down from his shoulder?

Wars...beatings and being a one trick pony of a puncher ruin fighters. Being a stubborn mentally thick type lets you keep coming back to soak them up,unfortunately. Calzaghe exposed his lack of skill firstly and more so. He was very determined, determined to take that beating.

I'll agree Calzaghe exposed him as being a crappy boxer, but he didnt ruin him mentally. Why would he keep coming back and winning some fights if he was ruined mentally? There a difference between being limited in skill and ruined mentally. I never really saw him go into a shell during a fight, he was at least trying to win is all I'm saying.

Default Jeff Lacy lost again at weekend.

UD to 23-19-7 (yes 7 draws) Dhafir Smith. Didn't even look close on the cards either (118-110, 117-111, 116-111).

After reading his interview on here a few weeks ago and how he was saying he felt like he was finally over his injuries, i was half interested in seeing how he got on. Turns out - not very well.

Anybody catch any of it? Quite gobsmacked at how quickly his stock has dropped. Re-watched the Calzaghe 0 Lacy fight a few days ago, and i can't quite believe he's gone from being supposedly 'the next best thing' to being a complete non-entity within just a few years.

Lacy has always been shit, we all knew that before he fought Calzaghe

Calzaghe clearly took something out of him, but that shoulder injury took much of the rest. And Lacy wasn't the bees knees to begin with, he was a bit of a hype job. Had good power, but was limited as a boxer. It is a rather shocking loss, but I don't really buy into his surgery totally fixing him and who really knows where his head is at these days.

You would have to think that this is the end of Lacy as a fighter.

I agree, he never got over the beat down he took and then the injuries got to him.

I don't think this fight was even televised, but Lacy has been ruined for a long time.

Since Calzaghe he's been completely shot, even his wins since then have been questionable at best (save the much smaller Manfredo Jr.) He's had that torn rotator cuff, that still effects his performance since his fight with Tsypko and that hasn't helped either. This isn't an all of a sudden thing though, this is over four years now that fans have been losing the faith in him.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

You can make a case of him losing all them fights he won afterwards. Every single one was a struggle
