I think he was great but he was in against an over rated champion who is limited, he got beat of Bendall and won close decisions against Quiqley ( Cleverly beat him in his 7th fight I think, quite easily ) and way past it Dodson, Smith has always been a bit over rated.

I think Groves is a good fight to make but a fight with Brian Mcgee will be a much bigger/better test than Smith.

But hats off to Degale went to the fellas backyard and did a number on him.

yep smith isnt a world beater

and he has had some bad results, fights he has looked bad in where he should have looked good and his other loss before degale didnt look great, although i did see the fight and remember thinking he shouild have got away with it

but he is decent, he seems to have a little bit of everything, without having anything much of anything (if you get me)

id say he is an average british champion, there have been worse, there have been a lot better

still, to beat him up like that after just 8 or 9 fights in his home town on such a big bill was very impressive

degale took one or two punches, but appart from that he looked very good, cool calm fast accurate and powerful

I think people have given degale he's due,He took smith apart and even thou the guy can act and sound retareded,he does put on a show and i like that.

Still, why do i feel that groves will shade it against degale??

i used to think it would be close, after both of their last 2 performances I'd say groves wasnt quite ready

and yes magee is the next step for degale

I threw that name out a month ago. It's probably just as big a step up as Smith was from his last fight.
Unfortunately, unless he wants a step up (domestically) I don't think there is anyone else

    Howard Eastman maybe?

I can't see Booth wanting to put Groves in now after both there last performances, I would bevery surprised if Warren put him in with Magee who is on the verge of a world title shot, I think a couple of tests similar to Smith will be next before looking to Euro level, he might even get a shot at the vacant euro title if Magee gets the world title shot.

I do agree,as much as it pains me to say....There something i just don't like about degale and george comes across as a decent fella in my opinon.
Degale's been looking like a potential world beater while george has struggled but come through.

I think grove's should avoid him for now and fight him,When he has a few more fights under he's belt....I do rate george highly thou.

I think Degale takes him any time tbh, I like Groves and wish him well but Degale seems to just have that extra power and nastiness thats needed at top level.
