I heard that all the punches are real, no fake pulling like in other movies. Looking forward to seeing it.

Actually glad they 'dumbed' it down and didn't get stuck on Gatti trilogy. Like most flicks certainly not going for historical ring accuracy but more so what its lead actor can deliver, drama and sub plots. Gatti was larger then life and in way Ward earned right to be seperated from it in those battles. He essentially had two seperate boxing careers entirely did Ward. From obscure co feature stepping stone journey man on ESPN to break out high calibur preformer. In hindsight he had zero business losing to a Meyers, Martin etc. Gatti fights made him 'known'...but they didnt make him the fighter he was. Ward was one of the better body punchers over the last number of years. The WBU trinket is crap, and frankly he was screwed in fight with Phillips, Leija opted out and limped into Kostya fight too.

RE; Whay are they not culminating this movie with the Gatti fight(s)
How could they ever do justice to those fights on film?

I'm going to see it tomorrow.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Just watched it tonight and it was a good movie.
Mark Wahlberg can't box very well, or throw a good hook to save his life, but he looked ripped and did a pretty good job.
So much for his claims of sparring 70% with the #3 MW in the world to prepare for the role.
Christian Bale stole the show ! His portrayal of Dickie Ecklund was terriffic.
Bale def deserves an Oscar for his performance. The actress who played Ward's wife did excellent as well.
I just wish the movie would have focused on more notable Ward fights, I mean at least the Augustus, Judah, and Phillips fights. Or ONE of them.

I heard good reviews. I'm gonna check it out this monday.
It was a fella named Mike Mungin. He apparently was a last minute opponent after Saul Mamby was too sick with the flu to fight, and this Mungin guy weighed 165 to Ward's 146.
Here is a link to the guy on boxrec:
Mike Mungin - Boxer
Boxrec certainly contradicts both the weight that the guy fought Ward at and the time period in which he fought Ward.
In the movie, he weighed 165 and fought Ward in 1993 or so, when Ward was on a 3 fight losing streak. On Box rec he weighed 136 and fought Ward when Ward was 18-1.

With all due respect to this project, they do not touch on the Gatti trilogy and without that trilogy i don't see the point of the movie? Ward was no legitimate world title holder and is best known world wide for his classic fights with Gatti, why would you not include one of the greatest fight trilogies of all time in your movie?![]()

Well the only other fight of significance was the Augustus/Burton fight ? That was a helluva fight though.
