    He's a shameless and extremely effective self-promoter.
An effective self promoter doesn't say an opponent isn't worth fighting but will fight him anyway for the fans.
He's made himself tens of millions of dollars by fighting mediocre opposition and has become one of the most popular, infamous, and discussed fighters in the world in the process. I'd say he's an exceptional promoter.

Shows the lack of value in the dollar if he's made "tens of millions" (though I would love someone to do the maths, work out the actual cut of Sky etcs that he gets), popular? He seems to be like marmite in that respect. Discussed doesn't always mean a good thing..

As much as I dislike David Haye; all publicity is good publicity.

He is very savvy when it comes to self promotion.

The boxing world has been talking about him and Wlad for over two years now - and it was all down to Haye's mouth.

Exactly. I don't like him either and his heavyweight accomplishments are certainly suspect, but he's been a brilliant business man.

I have no idea what you're trying to say in the first part of your post, other than disputing the amount of money he's made.

As for the second part, in boxing being popular is always a good thing. In a sense, the whole sport is one giant and corrupt popularity contest.

I don't think he's made "tens of millions".

Is he actually popular was the second part. He seems to have as many people calling him a duck, a chicken and disliking him as he does fans.

Well, I have no idea what the specific amount of money he has made is, but I'm certain that it is well over $10 million dollars at this point. The actual amount is moot, his ability to self-promote has made him a shit-ton of money and made him one of the most high-profile figures in the sport, even though he hasn't had a truly significant victory at HW.

As for his popularity, he's hugely popular in the UK and infamous pretty much everywhere else. Boxers don't have to be universally loved to be successful, just look at Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"tens of" is 20 or more (2 tens), which I doubt he has made tbh.

He seems to be turning British fans against him, his all talk no action seems to be putting off many of his most ardent supporters. Success and popularity are completely different things.

Yet people, including myself, still pay to watch him fight...
