Berto will demolish him. Stupid fight.

Bailey always has the punchers chance I guess but seriously, how has Berto gone from signing to fight Sugar Shane at the start of 2010, to fighting Freddy Hernandez at the back end of the year and now a possible fight against an old 140 fighter? I thought when he fought Collazo he was on the right path, and the Quintana fight was a decent opponent, but ffs, it is surely time to fight at a different level than this.
Joshua Clottey moved up to 154 though, right? Judah is down at 140. Saul Alvarez isn't ready. Senchenko or Zaveck aren't bad calls, but no one here knows them. Mike Jones and Soto-Karrass and Aydin make some sense. I'm not sure Randal Baily is all that much worse than them though.
Berto made alot of noise saying he'd move up to 154 for Cotto, why not Clottey? I'd bet good money that if offered the fight at 147 Clottey would take it in a heartbeat and Cintron has been campaigning at 154 too. While I know Senchenko and Zavack are unknowns, unifying the division will make a bigger statement than beating Randall Bailey.
The reason I brough up the likes of Aydin & Mike Jones, is that both of them had been in negotiations with Berto in the last year. Both are dangerous risks. I'm not sure Bailey is that dangerous a risk.
Understood but if Bailey connects with a similar right that he put Urango down with I HIGHLY doubt Berto gets up from that.....ergo he's plenty dangerous. Though Andre will probably jump on him early and get him running.
I see Andre Berto out-maneuvering but never out-classing Bailey throughout the fight. Andre tends to get "bully" as he begins to think his opponent has lost any chance against him and has underestimated old boxers in the past. I think Berto will get knocked down if the fight goes into the later rounds by a counter-right hand from Bailey. But unlike his fight with Cosme Rivera (who schooled Bert with a textbook, perfectly executed counter hook), Berto won't get up/ will get put down again/ won't be the same for the rest of the fight.

Andre can only fight who is in front of him.. I heard people suggesting he fight 154 opponents. As a welterweight trinket holder I don't think it should be held against him if he dosent.
There is really no one out there at the moment.. Shane at this point in his career is just a guy living off his name and is an illusional threat to PAC. Just like if Berto beat him he would get 0 credit because he is old.
Clottey dosent deserve to be cleaning lady at Cowboys stadium let alone a 3rd straight title shot.. I was high on Clottey but he is the 147 version of Rocky Juarez.
I would agree with Colazzo but I believe he is on the back of a l
Milk carton. Even if he signed against Berto do you even think it would be competitive given the lack of activity and competition for
Colazzo?
Cintron and Clottey are better challenges than a 36 year old Bailey moving up in weight. Your Clottey point is the wrong angle. As fans we don't deserve to see another gimme Berto fight. Clottey would be a good yardstick to see where Berto stands because Clottey has been in with Pacquiao/Cotto/Margarito. Other than in his Pacquiao fight, he gave them all hell. And frankly, set aside the Pacquiao fight, and he isn't all that boring. His Cotto fight was entertaining as was his Margarito fight at least to an extent. It's better than Randal IMO. Cintron is the best option out there. If he was willing to go to 154 for a Cotto fight, why not Cintron?
On the other hand, I hear your point. if he's a welterweight, then it makes sense for him to remain there. Still, unifying the titles at 147 makes more sense than fighting Bailey.
ESPN.com's division-by-division rankings - ESPN
7. Selcuk Aydin (20-0)
Turkey's Aydin is Berto's mandatory challenger, and the fight is way overdue. If the sides don't make a deal, there will be a purse bid Jan. 11 -- although Berto could give up the belt and pursue a different fight.
Next: TBA.
This is ESPN'S Dan Rafael's scoop in his ranking at Welter, I respect Dan's info and credentials and is preety in the Know how , thats why I posted this info.
The only other named fighter that wasnt busy seemed to be Joshua Clottey, and since someone must have told him he couldnt punch Manny Pac more than 10 times in their fight or he would have been fired by Top RankSo I think they see the Hobo who got hired off the highway to work as the Cavaliers announcer more worthy of a title shot than Clottey
I'd say kook not because he opted out but rather his running on at Mosley, a level he's not began to touch aside from yet to realized potential. Bit of an arm chair quarter back feel to me. Man knows tragedy as do we and others fighters, fair enough. But here I'm looking as a boxing fan before a humanitarian. Some fighters wait an entire career for a mega break out shot like that.
