IMO financially the Prescott rematch makes the most sense and would probably do crazy numbers in Khan's backyard, even if it will most likely be a one sided affair, but people would go crazy for the fight cause it would be "retribution" for Khan
It doesn't matter that Peterson went from sleeping in a car to where he is now, boxing after all is a business and guys do take considerable risks inside that ring, so of course they want to be compensated fairly especially if they're fighting in some guy's backyard.
I remember reading from another boxing forum that Montiel got around 500k fighting Hasegawa in Japan. And this is a 118 pound fight.
for me I want to see Prescott rematch
McCloskey would be out of his depth - as would Prescott I agree but he maybe has a psychological edge and can bang. And I would pay to see it
Big punchers are the only people who are going to beat Khan and that's all I got to say about that
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
But who is Peterson Bulldog? Khan like it or not is a cash cow in the uk, he could fight a blind donkey and still get big money, Peterson is not worth more than 200k he brings nothing to the fight financially, he is getting paid very well he would of never seen that sort of money before for one fight, what other shots will he get? If he gets another shot he won't make anywhere near that amount silly decision really.
I understand Khan is the bigger star bro and he makes a lot of money in the UK. But I also look at it or try to from a fighters point of view in that they also want to be compensated a little bit more especially especially fighting in some guy's backyard.
Like I said when using Montiel as an example. Hasegawa is a big star in Japan and makes a lot of money, but the 1st offer was kind of low from what I read and Montiel wanted a little bit more to take the risks in going to fight a guy in his backyard. I don't know what was the 1st offer from Hasegawa's camp, but more than likely it would still have been Montiel's biggest payday, still he wanted to be compensated a little bit more for fighting a guy in his backyard. So what is wrong with that. At that time you can say who is Montiel to be demanding more money from Hasegawa's side?
A lot of fans criticized a guy for wanting a little bit more, but they forget this is still a business.
I agree with that. It is a big risk to go to a foreign country and lay it on the line and be knowing that the officiating might well be against you. You should at least be well compensated for your efforts. Compared to what Khan will be reaping in I am sure what Peterson would be earning would be small change in comparison. I don't blame him for deciding that it isn't worth it. Might as well stay home, have a couple of fights and give it another go several months later.
Maybe this fight is still not dead and Peterson was just testing the water see if he can squeeze some more out? Who knows I am with Peterson if I was fighting a guy who is probably getting $1 million I would try hard to get as much as I could but I just think if this fight does not happen he could possibly regret turning that figure down in the long run.
If Montiel got $500,000 against Hasegawa (which I highly doubt, maybe half that) it just shows how strong boxing is in Japan and shows why their fighters NEVER need to leave there.
The same as Khan offering Peterson a career high payday. If the guy don't want to fight after that what can you do?
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
He had a gash on the head from a butt reaching down to the skull which took place in the early stages of the fight. Nobody decided to protect Barrera and of course he wouldn't quit. The fight was eventually stopped after it was safe enough to go to the cards and of course Khan got the decision over a half blind and seriously injured Barrera.
It should make any foreign fighter think twice about going to the UK when asked to face a domestic British fighter.
