Working the mitts helps alot for combinations, of course shadow boxing, hitting the heavy, it all really helps. You need to practice your punching techniques so that way you can throw good punches. You just have to practice practice. Also I guess if you are going to be a volume puncher you need to work on head movement, and by head movement I mean move your head with your legs. Head movement will help you get in to throw your combos.

Visualizing what you are going do prior to shadow boxing, then practice whats in your head already, so that when you actually do it for real in the ring you are not over thinking the situation, which will slow you down. Balanced internally as well as externally.

Hah, i guesstimate ''keep your head over your bollocks''

Anyway yeh good point andre if the heads not right even the most well trained fighter using good economy of movement is going to have problems, scrap is spot on too, there are so many things to concider when talking about speed but posture is the first problem in my opinion that needs to be sorted before you move onto other things in boxing sort of like the base from which you build your skills, if posture is overlooked theres going to be problems in the overall bio mechanics further down the line and it will cost you in every way, in terms of speed, power, energy, injuries, balance, mobility, etc, etc.

Conciousness is everything, so put the thing where all energy comes from, good or bad where it belongs. To get good biomechanical movement starting with good posture, I thank you

We've been saying that for a long while now in regards many subjects.

    There is no greater truth.

Balance, shifting your weight from foot to foot so that you can kkep punching effectively, and not being lazy. Your movements should be sharp and violent, not a rolling type of thing. I think there is also something to be said to knowing which punch in each series is the one you really want and setting down on that one. If you watch the Toney-Holyfield fight you'll see what I'm referring to.

Yeah funny how it is the reverse to it in boxing but its amazing how many people are walking around unconscious to real conscious thinking.

Scrap and the gang pretty much got it.... but one thing any combination puncher I have ever witnessed has that most other fighters even ones who threw good combinations when they wanted was....Being Fluid....The punches just come off without thinking...They don't need to hear throw a 2, 4, 6...or whatever number the trainer advises them of in the corner they just let it go without even thinking of it......Ali was the best at this as was Robsion....Joe Calzaghe was a great combination puncher he threw his short hooks etc without ever hesitation....Almost as if he did not know how to throw 1 at a time......Practice paRCTICE PRACTICE
