You only live once and the other mutha fucka has two hands legs etc....just like you do. And hell it's amir freakin khan, wasn't he just starched by a guy who no one knew or gave a fuck about ? You actually have a good shot of winning imo. Boxing is a game of inches take a chance get lucky. If you loose now so what, learn and don't loose anymore. And if you win learn on the job like berto and tim bradley are doing. And as far as the training you should be training for every fight like you're fighting floyd on fri and pac on sat imo. But i've never hit anyone not even my bad ass kids so i dunno

I wouldnt take the fight for peanuts especially in his hometown, look at the Barrera fight. McCloskey is better off fighting someone else in the top 10 and building his reputation. Just wait a few fights and let Khan lose to the Bradley/Alexander winner. Then laugh because your stock is actually higher than his.

Yeah i would if i was him. He isn't getting any younger, and he's not really that good to begin with. So yeah, i would. Besides, if he does ok-ish he will probably earn a few decent scraps off the back of it.

A challenger should never be offered less than 40% of the purse IMO. If a credible fighter wants a so called gimme then he should pay his opponent and likewise if the opponent is a credible opponent his share should rise accordingly.

Its an investment and as long as he believes he can win... as well as his camp, hell yes. When opportunity grabs you from obscurity and thrust you into the spotlight you piss or get off the pot. He may very well lose but the notoriety and exposure will see him well. Of course thats not always a good thing, certainly not if he's ko'd in 1 by Khan

What about Mandatories? Surely you can see the flaw in your own logic there?

What happens when McCloskey loses to that top 10 fighter while trying to build his rep? Which is very possible considering he's crap. What than?

There's no need to suck his dick just cuz he's from Ireland. He gets credit if he was good. Have you even seen him fight? He's mediocre at best. His best wins are over shot fighters. His speed is average. His power is weak. And his chin has never been tested by a true puncher. I see nothing that impresses me. But hey! Suck away if you want

I vote yes as well. I look at what happened to Buster Douglas. Trained his ass off to fight Tyson for peanuts. The next fight with Holyfield he made 25 mil.

No I would not take it. If the money is not good then he is better just to publicly slag off Amir and get some free exposure for my next fight.

Years ago I would have answered yes but today there are sooo many titles and sooo little champions with lengthy reigns that sooner or later....A title shot will be gained with a fair share being given to the challenger......Mandatories take what you can because truth is more often then not they do not deserve a title shot in the first place (what does that say about the sport the least deserving get the guarenteed shots).....In truth a top rated contender can nmake millions without ever winning a world title.....

No need to bow to these guys....WBA,WBC,IBF,IBO,WBO,...The diamond belts, the Super championship belts, the lesser titles like NABO, NABF etc.....Euro titles, number one contender bouts, BAD, SHOBOX, Showtime Championship boxing undercards, HBO championship boxing undercards, ESPN contracts, I could go on for days.....Fighters care about being paid and any fighter worth his salt can get paid big money...any fighter worth his salt that can keep a top 10 ranking for more then a couple of years will get a shot and make money out the ass.....

John Duddy is a perfect example the man is retiring and has never fought for a legit world title belt.....Yet his team packed the Garden several times.....;l.

Fuck these champions and their outrageous demands.....If you are legit the money and title will come...Even those who are not can make a fortune with proper promotioning...

    I agree with this.

It's not like Khan is 'The MAN' at 140. Okay, so he may be perceived to be 'The Man' but like Daxx said, with all the belts and what not... It's just a redundant principle I'm a fraid.
