Diaz was dismissed from the UFC, not due to poor performances, but due to poor behaviour. Dana White has since confessed to being a fan of Diaz and would like him to re enter the UFC at some point.
He has 7 losses, however I would argue that W/L records of boxers and martial artists are not comparable.
I would also like to forward my opinion that Mayorga's earning have been enhanced because of his controversy and rash statements rather than any skill.

#1 Boxing pays more than MMA, so of course Mayorga has earnt more.
#2 Just this week Dana White said he'd have Diaz back in the UFC in an instant Diaz just signed a new deal with Strikeforce. Your argument that all the best are in UFC isn't true, as Fedor fights for Strikeforce.
#3 In boxing, you're allowed to pad your record early. In MMA, not as much. Randy Couture has a 16-10 record and is considered an ATG and has fought the best in the sport.
#4 How many losses has Diaz had? 7 - exactly the same as Mayorga
I could go on all evening.
It is both irrational and unfair to compare records of athletes in different sports.
One may as well compare the performances of an Olympic swimmer and a cyclist.
Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts are completely different sports that share a few common factors. the past number of years has proven there is room for both sports and it is my opinion that the "threat" of mixed martial arts has invigorated boxing since a red hot 2007.
Nick Diaz is not among my favourite athletes. I have had my issues with him in the past, but I can never question his ability. Mayorga is a fighter that I never warmed to and who I have no admiration for in terms of technical ability. Should they indeed meet in a boxing ring of course I would give Mayorga a huge advantage, but what does it say for Diaz that with a pro boxinbg record of 1-0 is in a position to challenge Mayorga to a fight?
Furthermore let uslook into this from another perspective. What is there to gain for both fighters. For Diaz there is obviously a considerable pay day, media exposure and considerable kudos. For Mayorga there is only financial gain.

You can't compare the two different disciplines but you can say that Mayorga has had a more successful boxing career than Diaz has had MMA career. Mayorga has wins over p4p top ten fighters and has the better win percetntGe in his own sport.
*Why couldn't he do well? He's in great shape..runs marathons, he's long,,, but does he have power?...no. He also cuts and swells easily..a bad combo in boxing. He'll win some and lose some, but against Mayo..he'll lose everyday.
