This fight was taken on relatively short notice. There was footage of Toney watching Pac train for his last fight and he looked huge then. Toney obviously put in a little work to get in shape, but felt ready to beat his opponent anyway. Sure it's a shocking weight, but he will weight less next time out. Mark my words, this was just Toney getting back in the ring and best of all is that he got a 10 round work out and seemingly won every round easily enough.

Yeah but this was against an opponent that Herbie Hide smashed inside a round over 10 years ago!

The opponent is crap. I sort of do agree with you that Toney uses these fights as part of his training. Most of his training comes from sparring but at this weight he just cant move! He cant complain that no one wants to fight him when hes coming in to the ring out of shape and making boring fights for it.

No, I agree with many of the complaints I have been reading. Toney was far too heavy and I'm a bit annoyed that he couldn't manage to stop what was effectively a journeyman. Still, it was short notice and Toney has looked huge since Randy whatsisname. As a quick comeback fight I will give him a pass. It seems he did it easily enough and it didn't matter that he was like a marooned whale. It wouldn't be wise to step up in this kind of shape.

Only 257? I thought he was pushing 300 by some of his most recent pics. I guess for fat Toney 257 is pretty slim for him now a days.

If James was going to fight regularly then that would be a OK start but he has gone on record saying he will go back to MMA for another fight.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

I will be extremely upset if that is the case. I really want him to push himself for one final run. I think he can beat someone like Haye if he can just focus on training and upping the opposition level during a couple more quick fights. Otherwise what was the point in this? It can't just be about the money as he was obviously not paid very much for this bout. And you can't tell me Toney is serious in saying that NOBODY will fight him. It's frustrating.
