sayings that are retarded

I don't know if this thread will go anywhere, because although I have a saying I just noticed is really dumb, maybe it's not something people just have off the top of their head... thinking a particular saying is retarded...

Mine is when people say "and all you can say is sorry??"....

Here is my example...

Mandy : "John you are asshole! I just found out you kissed Sarah two years ago when we had that break... I'm so angry at you!"

John : "I'm realllly sorry"

Mandy : "Great.... Your sorry... We have a break for 1 week, and in that time you go and kiss my best friend, and your "sorry" Is that it"


So why it's retarded?? Well what else are they supposed to say.. Sorry is really the only word we have in the English language that has that meaning.. It means sorry.. And also what else do they expect? Shinny jewels to come from the sky in apology? A balloon and flower man to appear on the spot with gifts?

I just saw this on tv by the way, in case anyone is wondering where it came from... I personally have nothing to be sorry for..

I don't think the first saying is retarded really. What the poor betrayed is trying to say is that 'is that all your offering empty words?'. There is no word that could be invented in any language that would make it ok to cheat on someone as it's actions that count not words.

So when the person says 'sorry' they are offering words which have been proven fake by their actions, thus the betrayed person is right to reject them.


On another note my favourite sayings of the moment all come from Charlie Sheen

That is a very good way of putting it and I agree with the part bolded above. Sometimes actions are far too significant for an apology to suffice. You can't really cheat and say "I'm really sorry", it just rings really hollow.

I just hate it when I hear the same recycled stereotypes here. For instance, you will respond to the question "Do you like Kimchi?" with a plain "No". The immediate response is typically "Ah, it is too spicy for foreign people!". Erm, no it just tastes like crap. I like spicy food as much as anyone, but fermented rotting cabbage doused in chilli powder and paste really doesn't do it for me. The damn public school teachers fill people with the most bizarre stereotypes.

Boxers are often awful when faced with a microphone, I guess that is why they punch people in the face for a living. They rarely knock you out with their words. At least 70% of all boxers go into the 'god speech' and it just makes me want to read some Richard Dawkins.
