Its funny that the Mayorga fans are the very same group of people that a few years ago were saying "if Tyson got back with Rooney he'd win the titles again".....Tyson is finished, Mayorga is finished. Hell Mayorga has only beaten 1 prime opponent that was worth a damn (Forrest) and other than that he's only got a handful of significant victories....all many moons ago.

Miguel Cotto is still fresh enough to take Mayorga....its a great style matchup for the fans though and Mayorga has always come ready to fight, for the most part. Cotto is fresh, he's actually got a solid trainer and yeah I think that extends his career quite a bit longer.

I hate to agree with Lyle on just about anything, but the guy has got it right, Mayorga has no significant victories in recent years, and has been on a rebuild fight/defeat cycle since 03. Cotto will box through the first few rounds, then dig in the body shots and see Mayorga off before the championship rounds.

    Bullshit.

Lewis, Piccarillo and Vargas were all good fighters.

And FUCK Manny Steward he's nothing but a know it all whore and a gun for hire.

He ABANDONS his fighters as soon as they lose, and steals fighters from trainers they have been with their whole lives only to cash in and get out.

We all forget what he did with Cintron and Taylor ?

Mayorga has a damn good shot at beating Cotto and I think that he will in fact defeat the much smaller Miguel Cotto.

You can call bullshit all you like......Lewis?!? Piccarillo?!? Good wins, decent fighters but as I said those wins happened many moons ago. Vargas USED to be good, the version Mayorga fought was garbage, that my friend is a FACT.

As for your misguided view on Manny Steward, Jermain Taylor #1 didn't listen #2 apparently JT liked to party more than train...Cintron was a bitch everyone knows it. As for Manny ditching fighters that lose, Wlad lost to Brewster in one of the first fights he had Manny as his trainer. Cotto NEEDS a good trainer, Evangelista Cotto won't be training him and his strength coach didn't know anything to tell him vs Pacquiao...Manny will teach him well, Manny helped out Naz, De la Hoya, Holyfield, etc at certain points in their careers and they left him not the other way around.

I don't know where you get this "much smaller" part, Cotto maybe gives up a couple inches in height a little bit in reach but hell its not as if Mayorga knows how to use height and reach to his advantage...both fighters will weigh about 170 tonight.

Vargas don't count. He was bordeline expecting triplets and sadly was Mayorgas stepping stone, cruel irony.

Wlad is the only one he has not left in recent years after a loss and thats cus Manny makes too much money off of him to leave him.

Cotto was a small welterweight. Mayorga in recent years has been a full fledged 154 lber and fought at 160 his last fight.

    He IS the bigger man.

Regardless its going to be a hard fight for Mayorga but he can do it. He can catch Cotto backing straight up with his left hand at his waste doing an impression of Floyd Mayweather.
