I don't get it tbh. Kirkland leaves himself wide open. If he rushed Martinez like that he'd be on the losing end of a well timed left hand inside 4 rounds. Pirog has not earned the right to have a money fight like Martinez. He came in through the back door KOing an untested prospect. Cheers to him for winning a world title but he didn't beat a champion for it. If Sergio needs to he should go to Germany to fight Sturm. He sure won't come here.
Either does Kirkland though, who has he beat other than Vera?
Exactly. I'd see a Williams/Martinez III. I'd watch Martinez/Cotto. I'd watch Sturm/Martinez. Kirkland's fought like 1 fight in 2 years. Pirog and Kirkland have not earned the right to fight for the legitimate middleweight title in a big money fight... Hell, at least Dzinziruk had been a world champ for years.
Williams/Martinez III needs more time though like Kirkland and Pirog because Williams needs at least two tune-ups before he gets in the ring with Martinez again. I was there at that KO and that has to affect you. There is no way it doesn't.
