Most bad government has grown out of too much government. Thomas Jefferson
God I remember those. Helicopter pilot, go figure. Join for the right reasons...and do it soberGood luck.
HAha thats great I could imagine you as a helicopter pilot!
cccccccccccccccc "C1 to tower.c1 to tower " ,Im coming in from 12 oclock straight up; lacking control can you move that truck with the red cross on it to the left, oh, its cool, sorry I was looking in the wrong screen, thats my ipod on the dash board.![]()
I Applaud you!
But I'm curious, If you are looking for a great career, what pointed you in the direction of the Army as opposed to say Air-force, or Navy? Or is it an Army Career your looking for? I'm not saying the Army is not the best choice for you.
Something to mull-over if you hadn't done so already. Take a look at where the biggest demand is and the projections for when you plan to leave the military. There are a lot of really big paying Government jobs that require security clearance USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site You can prep your self for a very easy transition. Also note that there are a lot of low paying Jobs as well.
Good luck!
Can't fault anyone who is willing to fight for their country. I almost joined once, struggling to find work after I graduated uni, drunk in the middle of the day and thought I would be a good idea to sign up!
Good job its a long process now as I would of been dishonourably discharged years ago!
Went through with everything as I had made the mistake of telling my friends while I was still drunk, but failed my medical - slight hearing problem in my left year, thank fuck!
I'm not in yet, I still have to get cleared, and pass my MEPS which I think shouldnt be a problem. I can do about 60-70 push ups(military style not girly style) and about 70+ sit ups, my weak spot is the running, which is right about at the cutoff point. I still have some time to improve on my 2 mile time. Thanks VictorCharlie, my Recruitment Officer has answered all my questions, just got see what jobs are available and sort it out from there. No, I wasn't drunk when I decided.![]()
What trade(s) did you sign-up for?
Nothing yet, I have to get my results, then go over whats available with the recruiter. It's going to be a week or so because they are going to be revamping something with the recruitment process. He said they will be doing that all of next week so just waiting at the moment.
That's cool, the military provides a lot of career paths, not to mentioned the GI Bill which helps pay for school. One of my best friends joined the military just so he can get the money to go to Cal Arts an expensive private Art school. Merit based scholarships+GI bill his entire education was paid for. Now works at Pixar, which is known for works such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Wall E, etc.
