Bute to fight in Romania this summer

Interbox just confirmed that Lucian Bute will fight in Bucarest this July. It'll be made official tomorrow. No info about his opponent yet.

I'm glad for him, it been so long since he wanted to fight in his homeland.

It's just tough for Bute because who will he fight? Literally, there is no one out there that would add anything to his experience as a fighter other than people that are involved in the S6. If I'm Bute, I would wait to see what happens in the next round before choosing an opponent.

Agreed. I think they will pursue the fight with Kessler after this July date. What worries me is that he could be slipping a little because of his sub par competition. When he gets in there with another elite he might find himself to be a little off or tenth of a second to slow. Still, he had to at least stay busy. Glad he signed with Showtime because it pretty much guarantees a clash with the winner of the S6.

Good to hear, especially for his Romanian fans, he hasn't fought there since 2005, and I expect a huge amount of them haven't had a chance to see him.
The level of opponent for that reason isn't hugely important, however I do agree he needs to step it up quite soon.

I would be very excited about seeing Bute v. Kessler. I'm not sure what else outside the S6 there is for Bute other than Pavlik, but I doubt Pavlik is ready for Bute at this point, and Stieglitz, but I doubt Stieglitz would take the fight. As I suggested before, Bute could wait to fight Abraham or Johnson (assuming they lose) after the next round of the S6 in Romania.
