Am I the only person that thinks Mccloskey actually stands a chance?

Surely to god, given Khans past, everyone he faces from here on in has a chance. No doubt in my mind that someone could just drop the fuckin golden nugget and smoke him when no-one is expecting it. Gonna happen, I just imagine it will be against someone better than McCloskey, although he' is awkward, slick, throws plenty of punches and has a good beard, where Khan I personally don't believe has that strraight KO power at the top level, which leaving McCloskey with more rounds to play with I reckon. More round he's in there, the more time he has to get in a lucky shot. Hell, if he can apply pressure and get Khan near the ropes or on the inside, Khan has poor inside defense. I think the fight is about 70 - 30 in favour of Khan, so be a better fight than most think.

I think he stands a chance, I have been a fan of McClosket for quite a few years now. The first fight I saw of his was Tontcho Totchev, so there is no reason why I should jump off the bandwagon now. If its close though I think he'll get robbed.

Of course McCloskey has a chance. He throws punches from awkward angles. He has scored one punch KO's with both hands. He is definitely dangerous for anyone with a dodgy chin.

The problem with this fight is - McCloskey is a slow starter. I've never seen him not take a few rounds to get his timing. Khan is a lightning starter.

I think it's very possible Khan takes him out in 1-3. If McCloskey deals with the early onslaught then he has a great chance of countering Khan with something he is not expecting.

McCloskey KO around 9/1 has to be worth a couple of bob.

I think the early rounds will be something of a chess match with Khan not wanting to take too many chances with McCloskeys awkward style. I think he will box "by the book" until he feels McCloskey starting to weaken and then go for the finish around about the 5th.

This is an interesting thread, and an interesting internet discussion in general. It's interesting because as always with Amir Khan, so many are so quick to jump on him and gleefully blame him for being greedy, arrogant, smug etc.

To my knowledge what Sky have done has never been done before, at least in Britain. To ditch a PPV a week before it's due to take place and then offer not a first channel replacement, or even a second but the chance to stick it on a minor channel is a huge snub to a reigning world champion and one of the most exciting sporting stars in the country.

Khan proved precisely that he wasn't about greed by making a principled decision to cut his losses and negotiate with a minor company rather than agree to a rather humiliating offer.

If it was Carl Froch treated this way everybody would be praising him for his integrity and saying fuck sky.

As Jaz and Fenster (two of the only board members who consistently make sense even if they aren't smart enough to realise the truth about Noah yet) have said, this only hurts Khan in the long term if he loses.

He truly is in a no win situation with his haters. When he said he felt he could beat Mayweather (although he never really even did) he was labelled arrogant, and a tosser, when he suggested that his best chance to fight a legend would be to wait for them to get a little past their prime he was labelled cowardly and yellow.

I think the Khan threads mostly show up the spite and hatred a lot of people have inside them more than anything else.

I hope his PPV is more succesful than expected. It would be great for boxing and British sport in general if a rival service could take off and offer the chance for more fight cards to be screened. Maybe Khan can be the one to kick it off.

it would be interesting to have a poll , and find out how many were actually going to pay for the PPV , either on sky or this tin pot ppv.

personally i wouldnt pay PPV to watch a bill of this stature.

Would you paid for it if Macklin/Gevor, Fury/Rahman & Crolla/Rees had been on the bill?

If not, what kind of card would have been needed for you to part with your cash?

So will you be buying the PPV then ?

I will be, I rate him, always have. Dont understand the haters for skills, outside the ring in his personal life I dont really care, as long as he does the biz in the ring thats all I care about.

Erm yes and no, I subcribe to XME Forum, costs $10 a month for every fight card. Of course Amir won't see any of that cash but he's a millionaire several times over so he will cope
