Right, I'm not sure what fights there have been so far

Could they really have gotten into that heated an argument about who would win in that fight at the Dothraki wedding? If so, that's fantastic.

But honestly when I saw the title of the article I was hoping dude did it just cause he liked the scene at the end of the first episode.

Maybe they were discussing a hypothetical fight? Like who would win between Ned and Jaime, or something along those lines. If so, that is nerdism taken to seriously high levels and also awesome.

As far as time periods, now that I think about it I don't know how much time passes between the first book and the fourth, maybe a couple years? I don't know. Martin had originally planned to have five years pass between the end of the third book and the start of the fourth, but he scrapped that. That's apparently one of the reasons why he's slowed down so much.

So the third episode was this weekend.

The dwarf is fast becoming one of my favourite ever tv characters, he's brilliant.

Love this show. The funniest character, the hottest girl, it's awesome.

Tyrion: Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
Jon: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes.

He's a great character. By far the smartest and most intuitive in whatever fantasy world place this is called. I'm hoping he doesnt die, or turn out evil as he's a legend thus far.

    Westeros. The 7 Kingdoms, etc.

I mean, that's what its called. Well, that's what the mainland is called, not the part Dany's on.

I'm about to watch it, apparently fans of the book are upset that they're not showing Ghost with Jon up at the wall. Which leads me back to the idea that they're having problems with the direwolves, like if they don't show him for a few episodes but eventually do and he's much bigger it will make more sense. Who knows.

Well, I didn't love that episode, but the first two were brilliant, so whatever.

My nerdism is a bit annoyed by the fact that this episode saw, by far, the most changes from the book. But, again, whatever. It wasn't anything story changing, just less word for word stuff, and sometimes people said word for word stuff that other characters said in the book. And there were more scenes that just didn't happen in the book. Again, whatever, it was bound to happen, you can't follow an 800 page book word for word with ten episodes.

No ghost, they really are having problems with the wolves.

I didn't love Littlefinger, i.e. Lord Paetyr. Same guy that played Carcetti in the Wire. He's a good actor though so maybe he'll grow on me. Important character though so hopefully I'll start to like him.

I think it is harder when you've loved the books to see things translated. I know watching Lord of the Rings there were a few changes made that were instantly noticable to anyone who had watched the books. Although to be honest I liked the changes Jackson made in that. Having the romance between Aragorn and Arwen brought out when in the books it was really barely there I think added something. So putting Arwen in the book instead of Glorfindel at the Ford for example gave her more of a back story. The alliance between elves and men at Helms Deep that never happened in the book either, I think made some sense in the film. Also taking Tom Bombadil out was definitely a good idea.

I've not read any of these books yet but I'll probably get annoyed with George RR Martin for changing things from the tv show.

Do you reckon it's worth reading the books Ouma, or might it spoil my enjoyment of the show with all the differences?

Also, can you change the title of this thread to Game of Thrones now rather than I am a bit of a geek, as it's always hard to remember which thread this is all in.

Nah, you need to read them. You'll understand much more even if you're just reading along with the show. Much more detail about the characters obviously. I've liked it and like I said there wasn't anything massively different last night. I guess in retrospect I was surprised at how close to the books the first two episodes were.

I just didn't love last night's episode, but it was still good.

Yeah he's an awesome character... Speaks very intelligently, and is a stark (see the pun ) contrast to the rest of his family... He wants to be intelligent, he wanted to go to the wall to see what it's all about. He speaks with the commoners. Well sort of...

But it's very hard to tell if he's genuinely a good guy, at least some of the time... Like how he talks with Snow... Or if it's just a more intelligent way than his sister and brother of f'cking people over in the end...

Like when he is going back past seeing Bran on the way to Kings Landing, is he going to kill the kid or at least want to?

I'm actually really hoping he ends up turning on his family, because it seems like maybe a part of him doesn't like them.. But a fantastic character and effectively complex to the point where you really can't tell where he's coming from, don't know whether you should commit to liking him or hating him..

The other is that Chalisi girl married to Karl Drago... It seems like she's not that desperate to start the war, only her brother is. Who is a wanker.. And I loved how he tried to threaten her in the field and got roped around the neck and almost got an ear cut off... Who's the boss now f'cker!! Selling off your sisters pu$$y in persuit of power, only to have to take orders from her... I love it!

It's a show that is really unfolding and actually after the first episode I started to make a family tree of all the characters and how they relate to each other. i.e. The blonde Lanista killed the old king who Lady Starks Sisters Husband served as the Hand to the king... A king who killed Ned's sister who was the partner of the old king... etc....
    Very complex...

    Can't wait till "Winter Comes"....

    Very complex

I really like Viserys, i.e the brother of the girl who Bilbo fantasizes about, the fact that everyone hates him is solid proof of how well he's played the part. He's been perfect, so has the woman playing Cersei.

I listen to you people speculating about how characters will turn out and I want to comment on it. Whether you're wrong, right, etc. But all of it would be spoilers. Read the books. There's also one gigantic theory that could be talked about.

    Can't wait till next week.

Who are the favorite characters among all of you who haven't read the book? Besides Tyrion, who is an obvious choice.
