Taylor was not dominating the Chavez fight. At the time, I thought that, when Taylor went down, that that kd would seal the win for Chavez. I had him ahead by a point or two without it. Chavez hurt Taylor in the 2nd and 5th rounds and landed the harder punches throughout.
When the boxing magazines came out following that fight, the consensus was that it was a very close fight and that the judge that had Taylor up by 8 was an ass. Curiously, writers that wrote that then now subscribe to the 'Taylor dominated' version of events.
See I thought Meldrick was clearly ahead after ten rounds. But then Meldricks face really began to look like someone was beating on him with a tire iron. But it was a shock when I finally noticed it and I remember saying to my brother Chavez must be
hitting Taylor more often than I thought.
Yes Chevaz punches were more damaging and brutal on Taylor which was why I thought JCC would have won the fight anyway.
