Calzaghe should make a comeback. I mean why not? Wonder if he's tempted

I'm just producing the stats. It's just an observation.
I'm not stating Calzaghe was better than Hopkins... although he did make Hopkins bring the sport into disrepute with some of the most disgraceful cheating ever witnessed in a ring. But still...
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I totally agree, I used to be one of Calzaghe's biggest critics, but that all changed after he destroyed Jeff Lacy and finished his career moving up in weight to fight Hopkins & Jones Jr.. Too bad Calzaghe, didn't get more credit during his career for what he was able to accomplish, but anyway you look at it, 46-0 ain't too shabby, and those of us who know boxing will always give him the credit he deserves.
BTW, I also agree that Calzaghe, clearly beat Hopkins, by 4 or 5 rounds, name someone who's been able to accomplish that.![]()
Yep thats gotta be his best win, out of the 3-4 good fighters he's faced in 46 fights.![]()
I think this is right!
I wonder sometimes if BHOP wished he had that fight back. He fought like he had no faith in his own stamina.
Now that is to take nothing away from Clazaghe who I thought won nine rounds of that fight. But I do think BHOP matured in his understanding of his 40+ body after that (if that makes sense).
Of course all that matters is what happened so I'll stop speculating. A casae like this is why one cannot really rate a fighter until after hyis compeition has retired.

I'm stunned how many good posters here had BHOP winning that fight. Do I REALLY have to torture myself and go back and watch again? I thought slapping deserved more credit than the 1-2-headrush![]()

I also had B-Hop beating Joe Calzaghe by 1 point, i also don't agree with punchstats all the time. I mean i really can't recall Joe Calzaghe really landing a telling blow all night, i mean out of the 200+ punches he supposedly landed, how many were effective clean shots ?
B-Hop also floored Joe Calzaghe, and almost knocked him down again in another round. Give me the effective straight right hand leads of B-Hop anyday, over Joe Calzaghe's windmill punches that hit arms and air.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Calzaghe's best wins are over young lions like Jeff Lacy and Mikkell Kessler.
NOT barely winning a controversial split decision against a post 40 Bernard and dominating a totally shot Roy Jones.
There was little glory or honor in those victories. Especially the Jones win.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I agree with Hulk to an extent. If Cazlaghes win over Hopkins now looks impressive based on his recent outings then the converse regarding Roy Jones must also be true. That Jones dropped Calzaghe and took him 12 rounds with that chin is making Joe look pretty embarrassing I think.
Quit at the right time....
now tally up how many of those "shots" that Calzaghe "landed" were on the gloves and arms
and then add up how many shots B-Hop landed flush
the only thing you can applaud White Nose Joe on in that fight is that he finally gained the courage to come out the closet and grind up on Hopkins
You're right Calzaghe should have played it like B-Hop, beat up blownup Welterweights to make a name for himself early in his career.
You can argue who won the fight, but that whiteboy didn't make it easy for B-Hop. THis whole B-Hop won 4 or 5 more rounds is ridiculous.
