    What no Mayorga-Cotto?

I've never cried because of a fight. I was mighty shocked when Tarver KO'd RJJ....I saw the punch land and I was just in disbelief.

When Wlad lost to Brewster it was kind of difficult to watch because I saw it coming. Not meaning I saw it was a bad match up or anything, but I saw Wlad knock him down, throw the kitchen sink at him and then he couldn't even hold his arms up to defend himself. I seriously thought that was his last fight. I didn't see the Sanders fight live, I imagine I'd have been in disbelief for that one too.

Cotto-Margarito was difficult to watch...Miguel was winning round after round and then slowly started to succumb to what we now figure were loaded shots....very difficult to see happen, more so after the handwrap controversy with Mosley though.

Ali fighting on and losing to Spinks then continuing on against Holmes. He should've retired after the Thrilla In Manila.

I became a little emotional watching Terry Norris stumbling around with Dana Rosenblatt. But I kinda knew Terry back when he was young and unbelievable. To see that made me choke up for a second. I was also irate that he was being permitted to still fight.

I love the style of Norris, I cried with joy when he battered the manipulative Ray Leonard.

It bothers me how Norris' career was moved. After he beat Leonard, the world was his oyster. He should have been moved into some big fights. Instead, they put him through a never-ending series of crap fights, which actually took a toll on Terry.

It totally backfired. Terry ended up taking losses anyway. It woulda been better if he tried his hand with Jackson in a rematch or another big name at 160, rather than end up getting blasted out by the far less prestigious Simon Brown, and getting mired with all those pointless defenses at 154.

I'm sure they would do it differently if they had the chance to do it all over again. Talent-wise, he was one of the best ever. He deserved better from his management.

You never know, if he got sparked again by Jackson then people may have said why did you not take the easier option and make some defences and earn some money. Terry was only young and I think they took the best course, he unified the titles and took out the competition at 156lb. He should never have lost to Brown or disqualified against Santana. He was going to earn a big money fight against Oscar. He also beat Meldrick Taylor in convincing fashion.

The fights that drove me crazy were fights with Oscar Dela Hoya and Julio Caesar Chavez and Arturo Gatti not to mention the stinker of a decision against Whitaker. The first two were ugly KO's against much smaller men, hand picked for this so called predator. He reminded me of a poster I saw In Playboy Magazine or was it Penthouse where two vultures were watching a man crawl-through the desert and one vulture said to the other,"Patience my ass I'm going to kill something." Dela Hoya was that vulture and the first two fighters I mentioned was like the person crawling through the desert. He couldn't wait any longer but his opponents were helpless and too old or too small to resist him. You have to admit it, there was an awful lot of the vulture in Oscar. Easy prey!

I've never cried over a fight, but the closest i've come to crying was watching some of the ring deaths over the years, and seeing SRR, Joe Louis, et al, in the last few years of their lives..... Seeing Ali the way he is now is pretty fucking sad as well.

This isn't about a fighter, but Walter Peyton's death from liver cancer was heartbreaking.

Just wondering. As you were watching the Margarito-Cotto fight did it ever seem to you like something unusual was happening? It never occurred to me. Of course I still guess Margarito was clean for that fight. I thought I was looking at a fight Arguello fought a dozen times, Marciano fought half a dozen times, Tito a couple of times, Carmen Basilio fought a bunch of times. Get outspeeded early but just keep coming, look awkward but just keep coming and hurting the faster guy enough that by the later rounds it is a race to the final bell. Can the fast guy hang on or the stalking puncher finish him.

It just felt like a fight I'd seen many times before.

Watching Phillips dismantle Kostya with more determination and strength on the night was a hard one to take.

I thought it was odd that all Margarito needed was 2 solid rounds to stop Cotto as Margarito isn't known for being a hellacious 1 punch power puncher. What really shocked me was when Mosley stopped Margarito with relative ease AFTER Toni was busted for loaded wraps and then I knew something was up vs Cotto as Miguel had just as much power as Shane and cracked Margarito a lot but I'm guessing the psychological advantage of having loaded wraps gave him the edge.

Just my opinion on the issue though.
