I always said that Joe would come back because he is such a boxing cliche, I figured he figured it was the done thing. Now Im not so sure.
If Froch manages to squeek past Ward I'll change my mind.

Charley Burley
Nope. Unless he's broke!!!
No, he won't come back and I don't think Froch's success bothers him in the slightest. He thinks he got out at the top and has that 0, that's all that matters to him. He wouldn't risk it.
He beat a relatively prime Hopkins better than anyone else has done, beat up the American critics darling Lacy quite easily, beat a prime undefeated Euro titlist in Kessler handily and also in his youth boxed the pants off the ancient (31 ancient...hahaha) Eubank. His style was extraordinary and he beat a number of other very decent opponents. In his own way he was great, nobody was ever able to work him out.
He had a great career and is one of boxings best ever fighters, at least IMO.

The Hopkins fight was VERY close. It could've gone against Joe to be honest.
As for Lacy, yeah he was the American darling, but really who had he beaten?
Kessler was a great win, can't deny that.
If Froch wins the Super Six (even if he doesn't) and then goes on to win titles at light heavy, which I am sure he will) he will undoubtedly have rustled up a better CV than Joe. Don't get me wrong, I am a Joe Calzaghe fan but I can acknowledge he was fed a lot of shit for much of the ten year reign he has and, with regards to that, didn't unify for years either.
Good post Miles.
These Calzaghe haters will never get over it.
The Hopkins win is rubbished even though Hopkins can't stop franking the form. Froch gets more credit for LOSING to Kessler than Calzaghe does for beating him. Even Hopkins, one of the biggest whingers in history, recently admitted Calzaghe had unique boxing ability. A masterful style.
We all know the real truth - if Calzaghe was American he would have replaced SRR as P4P all-time. Fact.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I would have liked Calzaghe had he not been such an incomplete puncher. I understand he has brittle hands but I dont think he ever learned how to punch properly such as turning the punches over and punching all the way through the target. His bogus stoppage of Manfredo was one of the currupt reffing ever. I just never been too high on the guy.
He should stay retired and enjoy life. Do lines of pure Colombian shit..
I cannot see Joe coming out of retirement even if it was for a crazy amount of money and a high profile fight like Froch or Cleverly.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Agree with this. I scored the Hopkins/Calzaghe fight for Hopkins by a point. I also don't follow how Hopkins was "relatively prime" there. Hopkins was at his prime against Trinidad. Anything post-Taylor is definitely a different story -- though he's obviously still very good.
That being said, a prime Calzaghe definitely beats today's Froch, for sure. And I do respect Calzaghe -- the dominating victory over Kessler did that for me. But he's not (and never was) on quite the level of a truly prime Hopkins or Roy Jones Jr. I'm not sure he was even on the level of a prime 168 James Toney.
