A-fuc-ingmazing. Five minutes ago ortiz quit against a b fighter at best with no boxing skills in maidana and the whole world was calling him shit and saying he should quit. Next the dude barely survives and gets a draw against peterson, he beats berto and now he can beat floyd !!!!! Wow hbo lost pac and they are desperate. If peterson could outbox ortiz floyd sure as shit will. Ortiz will loose damn near every round, and outside of floyd fighting pac or martinez no one should really care.

Couldn't agree with this more and that's why I think...

    1) this fight is a warm up for something bigger

    2) completely pointless

    3) a way of keeping his name in the pound for pound list a bit longer

    4) an easy way to earn a bit of pocket change

I wonder if mayweather will insist on random blood testing. I for one hope so.

Mayweather watches his wallet and his 0. This fight isn't a threat to his 0 and it will add padding to his wallet. It's perfect for him. He should go in as as a heavy, heavy favorite.

Mayweather v. Ortiz match opened up with odds of 1/10 on Mayweather and 11/2 Ortiz.

I don't understand people's displeasure here 1st and foremost Ortiz is a livlier opponent than anyone PAC has fought in years. Arum and Roach carefully select in house Top Rank fighters that have really 0 chance and were once great fighters that have hardly any tread left on the tires but Uncle Bob will spray armor all on them and shine em up for you and have you believe their still good.. So a bloated JMM who Floyd proved had absolutely 0 chance at a higher weight is a better option than a strong young fit bull of Ortiz. Who will probably have 10 lbs on Floyd come fight night

Are you talking about mayweather or pacquiao here?

It's been said. This is the best available fight for Floyd at or below 147. That is not the same thing as saying that it will be competitive or that it will be challenging for Floyd. Ortiz has little to no chance. Just ask Vegas: they have Floyd a 9-1 (best odds) favorite.

I for one gave Ortiz a lot of props after the fight against Berto. It doesn't mean that Ortiz is great or that we completely forget that Lamont Peterson outboxed him and it doesn't make Ortiz a great fight for Mayweather. However, it also doesn't mean that he wasn't the best available opponent.

You're joking right? Ortiz doesnt need Gatti's heart because he's light years better than him in just about every other area. His chin is sturdy enough and he's shown some cojones in his last fight. He's nearing his prime and with his southpaw style, he's going to put up a fight unlike Gatti who gave Floyd nothing to think about. There wont be any early KO, I know that much.

    This is a real fight.
No recent Floyd fight has ended in an early KO so that won't happen. But, Ortiz will lose every single round and quit at around round 10. How will Victor trouble Floyd at all? I don't get it. What happens when Victor is discouraged after round 4 because he can't hit Floyd?

Sounds like someone needs to get the IRS off his back.

I am a huge fan of Floyd's skill set, but I hate that he skips out on the game so much. I mean it's his life and can do what he wants, I just wish his had more hunger to get in the ring and take on all comers like he did at the lighter weights.
