Love him or hate him, the boxing world is a better place with him in it.
I don't get all the hate for this fight, though. He is fighting the best available opponent, is fighting a big hitting southpaw who nearly always drops his opponents yet people are STILL moaning. After this announcement, I am more confident than ever that the fight we all want to see will happen in May 2012. The fact he has chosen to fight a southpaw who likes to come forward gives me that idea.
I'm 99% sure Sky Sports will be showing it live as well so really looking forward to this fight. As someone else mentioned on here, funny how Floyd is criticized for taking this fight and yet people are alright with some of Pacquiao's recent opponents.
I don't always like Pacquiao's choices of opponents, but since Mayweather has ducked him for the last 3 + years, who exactly is he suppose to fight that he hasn't?
exactly. but you know his haters want him to fight martinez. if he fought berto instead of mosley and blew him out they will say berto is green. if he fought ortiz and blew him out they will call ortiz quitter. and when roger mayweather said pac took steroids everyone of floyd groupies bow down and agree with him. im not racist and i have plenty of african-american friends, but i have to ask this, why is it when black fighters lose or in jeopardy of losing a fight always say that their opponents are taking steroids ie. andre berto on ortiz "he was on something and its not flintstones", or jean pascal on bernard hopkins, and floyd and co. on manny pacquiao? that "a-side meth" crap is hilarious and still people buy their story. if that so call a-side meth is true then we(filipinos) would have invaded every damn country there is because we were supposed to be bullet proof. instead it took us 300 years to get rid of the spaniards and we were under japanese and american rule for a while.
Why is it that Filipinos don't want Pac to get his blood randomly tested? Do they know there is a risk to be caught with something? Heck, I would expect Pac fans to have a different attitude like "Hell yeah! We'll have our guy tested to prove he's ready to fight whenever and then kick your guy's ass in the ring. So come on! Let's get tested and lets get ready to rumble" instead, all we hear are excuses on why he shouldn't take the tests: he's afraid of needles, blood makes him nervous, a nurse might poke his arm in the wrong way and hurt him, he can't train properly for more than a week, etc.
have you ever donated blood? or have it taken every week? have somebody draw a small tube of blood from you and then you run up a hill and we will see how you feel. i dont really agree with his excuses but to the notion that if he's innocent then why doesnt he get tested, then the rule should be "guilty until proven innocent" and not the other way around. would you let a cop arrest you because he has suspicions that you took drugs?
Bullshit - Everytime I've had blood taken, I've asked the nurse if I can go to the gym afterwards and every different nurse has said IT'S ABSOLUTELY FINE - I hit the gym an hour later and I'm absolutely fine! It's a non-excuse.
There is an interview from Freddy Roach where he says he's not letting Manny take random blood tests and demands 14 days of no blood tests because Manny would be too weak to train and so on. On another video Manny can be seen in the gym sparring and lifting weights like an animal A DAY AFTER he had blood drawn. It's all on video. Manny, Roach, and Arum should sit down and plan how to come up with excuses instead of contradicting each other all the time.
Manny Pacquiao has already agreed to Blood Tests
at anytime even during the fight before the 6th round if Mayweather is willing to fight. This was stated in an interview on November 12, 2010 before the Margareto fight.

Beats, Boxing & Mayhem: Now, you’re willing to compromise on the blood testing. You weren’t as flexible earlier this year and walked away to take another fight. Do you regret not compromising during the first negotiations and fighting Joshua Clottey?
Pacquiao: [Pauses] Um, no. I feel like I don’t need Mayweather to make my career. I fought the best and anyone willing to face me. I want it, and feel the fans deserve the [Mayweather] fight. I want to prove to everyone that it wasn’t me who didn’t want the fight. That’s why I made the concession to take anything [blood tests] he wants at any time. Even during the fight before the sixth round if he wanted! What [else] can I do? I hope we get the fight done soon. Let’s get it on.
