    its really very simple:

pacquiao wants to fight under the commission's rules.
floyd wants to make his own rules for manny and himself to follow.

there is no reason for manny to have to follow those rules.

    where's the controversy?

in an attempt to bully manny into agreeing to fight under his made up rules, floyd slandered manny.

manny, having been slandered, decides to sue floyd.

    again where's the controversy?

its all very simple...floyd wanted to dictate the terms of the fight which were outside of the sanction bodies rules... then he decided to break the law and slander him in an attempt to shame him into fighting under his made up rules... now manny wants him to justify his slander or face the consequences. (these consequences are law. not made up rules. but law.)

    there is no controversy here.

I agree. That's as simple as it gets.

I hope Manny wins the case and forces Floyd to fight him because he is broke.

Floyd will agree to the fight on the condition he drops this case.

Then Floyd gets the bigger piece of the pie, no 50/50. There is no $1,000,000 fine, no catchweight. Bigger ring size, etc. If someone came up with demands it was Pac, Roach, and Arum. Floyd asked for one single thing: olympic style random blood tests, which Floyd is willing to take as well. What's so unfair about that?

just because Floyd's demands were not considered doesnt mean Pac's demands are all invalid. Just to show you, each of pac's pre fight demands have valid basis.

    1. 50/50 split -- this is just fair since both fighters are on the top of their game and both of them can draw big crowds. We can back this up by facts coming from PPV and gate receipts of their last 2-4 fights. So the demand for the 50-50 split is valid.

    2. 1M USD fine for each pound over 147. This demand was put in place because everybody knows what Floyd did when he fought a naturally smaller JMM. The contracted weight was 144, Floyd weigh 147 on weigh in. He just proves everybody that he can screw the weight Limit, he doesnt give a damn for the small fines, but 1M, it make him think twice. the fight is at 147, it was never at a catchweight of some sort.

    3. Bigger ring size was not really an issue back then. It was questioned by roach and he sees Floyd plans to dance and run along so a bigger ring will give him extra space to run from pac. Thats all. Its not a showstopper so I guess it would be a problem for pac to agree for a bigger ring.

    4. Floyd asked or demanded (lets use the same word for pac and floyd so to be fair) for only one thing and yes that one thing is the random, Olympic style blood test for Him and Pac... It was unprecedented. It was made out from "suspicion". The basis was Roger's theory of a-side meth (the legendary meth that makes your skin bullet proof).

NSAC already made a review on their protocol and they still find the currently implemented rules to be sufficient and valid for all their sponsored sporting event which includes boxing.

Does anybody know the ring size in the Mayweather-Marquez fight? Is it the same bigger ring size that Mayweather preferred in his fight with Pacquiao?

And shouldn't a smaller ring size be better since this is boxing and not a dance competition?

    Btw, excellent post Dench !!!
