    I agree.

I think he had an anesthetic or something and that was why he was 10 minutes late walking to the ring. Coupled with the adrenaline I can tell you that he probably didn't feel a thing.

I can tell you personally that when it starts flowing, punches barely hurt... certainatly a lot less than if you were calm and cold.

I really doubt his little toe hurt him that much... if it was his big toe it might have effected him a lot more. He's back tracked on it now but I really didn't like him going on about it right after. But that's emotion for you and everybody is only too happy to talk about it from their arm chairs.

    Agreed on both counts... but

we are sitting in our armchairs not making millions of pounds competing for the greatest prize in sport. When people say 'it's easy for you to say, it wasn't you in there getting hit' That's correct, because that is not the path I chose and I do not have that talent. IMO there is absolutely no excuse for a fighter being gun shy, Audley Harrison is the king of it, but Haye definitely showed signs of it against both Wlad and Valuev.

Yeah, I was definetly dissapointed in his performance but some people are going waaaaay overboard.

I think Haye was definetly afraid... He had the bottle to go after Wlad in the 12th once he'd realised Wlad probably wasn't quite the beast he'd likely built up in his mind as but was too tired to be clean. That and he just didn't fancy the risk, until the 12th were he knew he needed it.

I'm thinking that if he'd used similar tactics to the ones that he used *but* tried to lay on Wlad's chest and just look busy working a few quicky flurrys in... if not to be that effective, just to look busy and smother Wlad then he might have been able to pick some more rounds up.

Two things. I played football games in college with a broken big toe. No fun at all but not really debilitating. A pinky toe? Please.

Second I think you have something on tactics. How many times did 13 make Wlad miss with the jab and not do anything with it? A single step inside with his left foot and the right side of Wlad's body is wide open, at least for a second. But it takes nerve to close and 13 didn't have it. The big question is why? Wlad has no history of doing anything when in tight except holding. So what exactly is the risk? It's not like Wlad excels at short hooks or uppercuts. Make that slipping he did useful 5-6 times by landing some right hands inside and maybe Wlad gets shy about throwing the jab. If that happens all sorts of things open up (maybe).

But nerve/balls/daring/desire to win is the necessary ingredient.

He's saying that he thought he'd never win by UD. I think he was looking for a big shot but either he under estimated Wlad's chin/over estimated his own power or more likely a bit of both.

The 12th round showed that he could smother wlad in close... probsbly why he's kicking himself and wanting a rematch he'll never get.

What the hell does getting inside have to do with "not being able to win by decision?" If 13 could get Wlad to stop jabbing? Everything changes, doesn't it?

What KILLS me about this is that 13 didn't do ANYTHING different once it bcame VERY clear Plan A was a no go. Say around round five.

Look at pictures 3,4,5,6 and 7 below. Look how open Wlad's body is if 13 will step inside and punch!
