I'm no particular fan of Kahn, but I no longer think he has anything of import to avenge. Prescott hasn't kept up in terms of accomplishment and Kahn has stayed in there with another big banger in Maidana.

Kahn has, in my view, responded exceedingly well to that loss. He renewed his commitment to the sport, he has worked to become technically far more proficient and he is fighting important and risky fights. I have no complaints.

Emil Griffith never "avenged" his KO1 loss to Hurricane Carter
Manny P never "avenged" his KO loss to Rusty Torrecampo
Alexis Arguello never "avenged" his KO loss to Omar Amaya

Those three all have exceedingly strong legacies. I can come up with dozens of others.

Now I think it'd be different if Prescott was now thriving against top competition the way Kahn is. But he isn't. It is up to him to earn that fight in my view.
