That's a horrid myth and stereotype. But at least you got the class to admit that you were wrong.

I'd agree that Moore & Baresi were better defenders though, but still for any player who started his career in attacking midfield to be one of the top 10 CBs of all time is something.

The only competition I could imagine for all-rounders would be Gullit & Socrates, but I think Beckenbauer probably trumps them.

Franz is def. one of the greats.
    Is he the greatest?
    Not in my book.

El Fenomeno, Maradona, Pele, ZiZou, Platini, DiStefano, Best, Eusebio and Puskas quickly come to mind.

    Since were on the subject, just want to see what peoples comments are on these players;
George Weah, Gheorghe Hagi, Garrincha, Maldini and Ronald Koeman.

Messi has A LOT to prove still.
Great club player in every sense of the word.
Horrible (up to this day) international player.
I must sound like a broken record but club level and International level are 2 different things.
He has literally done jack shit for Argentina when it matters most.
2 WC where he's been absent.
A Copa America where he somewhat showed up but disappeared when it mattered.
And now this Copa America which he has decided not to show up either.
Ohh yeah an Olympic God Medal.
He reminds me of Hugo Sanchez...
Great at club level, not so much with his Int. team.

    I believe he was joking.

Scored one of the best Cup Final goals ever in 1987.
